Water, as the source of life, is a key element environmental education. Geography education strongly linked to three pillars sustainable development (SD). Firstly, this paper used water-related standards China’s national geography curriculum (GCSs) object textual analysis. Two coders categorized GCSs, coding them with two distinct dimensions: core competencies and SD literacy framework. Then, results were analyzed by word frequency analysis compare U.S. high school GCSs. Finally, distribution degree in GCSs summarized described. study showed that water content rich content, yet fragmented. focus on dimensions ESD, an emphasis dimension. both countries emphasize human–Earth relations effectively.
