Objective: This study aims to propose structural design guidelines that support the deconstruction of reinforced concrete buildings, promoting sustainable practices material reuse and recycling at end their service life. Method: A qualitative approach was adopted, including reviewing national international literature administering questionnaires 15 industry professionals or researchers with expertise in engineering sustainability. The data were organized according principles Design for Deconstruction (DfD): (i) reuse, (ii) disassembly recoverability, (iii) maintainability deconstructability. Results Discussion: analysis resulted technical addressing adaptability, modularity, use precast components, detailing demountable connections, extended durability, standardization. Building Information Modeling (BIM) also highlighted as an essential tool ensuring traceability managing processes throughout building’s lifecycle. While proposed are consistent literature, some divergences noted, particularly regarding optimal scale complexity elements suitable deconstruction. Research Implications: findings provide practical designers seeking implement DfD strategies structures, fostering circular economy within construction sector. Originality/Value: contributes by expanding application underexplored area, formulating derived from integrating theoretical insights professional practice.

Purpose The building industry generates around ten billion tons of construction and demolition waste (CDW) annually worldwide, posing both financial burdens on contractors significant environmental hazards. Embracing a circular economy (CE) approach emerges as promising strategy for sustainably managing the vast volumes CDW. However, sustainable performance many attempts in CDW circulation is still questioned need to be justified. This study transcends traditional reviews by adopting systematic literature review, focusing central question: “What’s contribution 3R principle its sustainability performance?” Design/methodology/approach methodological framework encompasses searching, screening quality assessment, culminating selection 177 articles bibliometric integrative analysis.
