Marine algae, which are often overlooked but extremely versatile, proving to be a promising solution in the midst of environmental challenges. They used as raw materials various sectors and also serve food for humans. The rapid increase plastics poses an urgent ecological problem that requires immediate attention marine ecosystem. This study provides overview microplastics (MPs) pollution its harmful effects on human health. addresses research gaps future directions. data was collected from databases such Scopus, Web Science, Dimension, Pubmed Central. bibliometric analysis shows total 1020 articles were extracted study. Fibers, fragments, foam, films, microbeads most abundant MPs types found seaweed Fucus vesiculosus, Gracilaria lemaneiformis, Ulva flexuosa. Most MP's recorded U. prolifera, Caulerpa F. G. Chondrus ocellatus, lactuca. These contaminated with can cause oxidative damage, cytotoxicity, neurotoxicity carcinogenicity consumers. studies contamination algae conducted 2020, 2021 2022. suggests since consumed worldwide, additional field laboratory needed determine true situation. results suggest further is Further global needed, well continuous monitoring levels edible algae. Public awareness crucial minimize impact plastic oceans, innovative technologies, consumer choices responsibility. Interdisciplinary collaboration key sustainable coexistence environment.

Abstract It is known that aquatic environments become the ultimate sink of emerging contaminants, namely microplastics (MPs). This review focused on exploring current situation microplastic presence in aquaculture facilities and animals together with potential sources. A total 90 peer-reviewed publications available Web Science were considered systematic review. Results revealed important role anthropogenic influences near internal factors (such as infrastructure, feed, animal behavior etc). Literature results showed significant variation abundance depend taxa; however,, no was observed depending natural feeding preference or habitat species. Obtained data proved widespread form a intake pathway for humans. condition trigger accumulation human body might cause decrease immune system local particle toxicity. Therefore, necessary legislations should be implemented to sustain economic growth industry while reducing concerns regarding consumption products.

Abstract Major cities are particularly affected by the escalating issue of municipal solid waste (MSW) pollution. Among various forms waste, plastic is especially concerning due to its persistence and tendency fragment into microplastics. This study focuses on Jangli River located in Semarang City, Indonesia, quantify characterize riverine microplastic pollution assess impact nearby a MSW Temporary Processing Site (TPS). Through water sampling, field observations, laboratory analysis, we identified classified microplastics color type, determining their abundance across different river points. Our findings reveal correlation between proximity processing site increased levels. Specific hotspots along were after location TPS, highlighting areas with highest contamination. research underscores urgent need for targeted interventions manage mitigate secondary pollution, specifically Indonesia’s waterways, advocating effective environmental control measures protect aquatic ecosystems.
