Liver fibrosis is a progressive and fatal condition characterized by stiffness scarring of the liver due to excessive buildup extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. If left untreated, it can progress cirrhosis hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-one fastest-rising causes cancer mortality in United States.
