Polystyrene (PS) is widely used in industries like packaging and insulation, but its performance can be enhanced by incorporating calcium carbonate as a filler. To improve polymer-filler compatibility, was surface-modified with oleic acid, PS-calcium composites were synthesized using the melt blending method, followed citric acid treatment. X-ray diffraction (XRD) FTIR analyses revealed no chemical interaction between phases, reduction content due to treatment, suggesting partial dissolution of Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed formation cavities matrix, especially TPS3. Hardness testing indicated decrease hardness increasing concentration, TPS3 exhibiting lowest (63.4 Shore D). Photoluminescence measurements blue shift at lower concentrations, while higher concentrations caused red broader emission, which stabilized Solvent absorption tests that acid-treated had an capacity, showing 38.3 % vegetable oil, potential for adsorption applications.
