Abstract Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) is a greenhouse gas which mainly found in natural (NG), biogas, and flue gas. Anthropogenic CO emissions are the direct result of burning fossil fuels. Meanwhile, pre‐ postcombustion separation current state removal method an extensive manner. From environmental, economic, transportation perspectives, has driven development its process technology. Among reported technologies, membrane‐based technologies have grown substantially, breakthroughs advances past decades. This review paper aims to provide overview on competitive processes, different types membranes available, transport mechanisms, fabrication hollow fiber membranes, particularly dual‐layer membrane. The performance effect spinning parameters formation highlighted. In addition, approaches improve adhesion, strategies enhance filler compatibility mixed‐matrix post‐treatments membrane also discussed. Finally, challenges future perspectives toward capture, /CH 4 /N separation, included, due substantial relevance industry.
