The significance of water hyacinth (Pontederia crassipes (C. Mart.) Solms (Pontederiaceae) vermicomposting lies in its ability to effectively manage invasiveness while also improving soil fertility and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. This study evaluates the effects charcoal addition on composting followed by (WH) cow manure, focusing growth, reproduction, survival Eisenia fetida earthworms quality resulting vermicompost. treatments included WH manure (2:1) with 7.5% (T1), 5% (T2), without (T3). Composting (30 days) (60 was conducted a controlled greenhouse environment. Samples were collected biweekly analyze temperature, moisture, pH, electrical conductivity, total nitrogen, available phosphorous, potassium contents, vermicompost yield, earthworm growth parameters throughout process. Results showed that T1 T2 significantly improved weight (8.23-16.0%), number (65.0-69.0%), cocoon production (37.0-49.0%), hatchling count (49.0-77.6%), compared T3 (control). Also, increased pH (4.30-5.75%), nitrogen (53.6-62.5%), phosphorus (61.6-117%), (47.5-71.3%) reduced conductivity (9.91%), organic carbon (17.9-42.1%), carbon: ratio (46.5-64.4%), mass (22.0-28.3%) at end period, T3. Moreover, exhibited higher lettuce seed germination (92.4-93.5%), index (76.2-80.4%), shoot elongation (46.0-92.5%), root (9.00-15.0%), However, most results, there no significant difference between T2. finding suggests use (5.00%) enhances optimal maturity stability.

Earthworm gut digestion plays a crucial role in reducing antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) during vermicomposting, offering significant potential for controlling ARG dissemination livestock manure. However, the impact of residual tetracycline antibiotics on this process remains poorly understood. Herein, study systematically evaluated three concentrations (0, 10, and 100 mg/kg) dynamics microbial community evolution 35-day vermicomposting cattle The results demonstrated that earthworm intestinal effectively eliminated over 96% initial load raw Noticeably, stress significantly enhanced total abundance casts (p < 0.05), with distinct response patterns observed among different types. Mechanistic analysis revealed potentially persistence through two pathways: (1) promoting horizontal transfer via mobile genetic elements, (2) altering succession influence host–microbe relationships. These discoveries contribute to our comprehension interference vermi-remediation processes provide insights optimizing mitigation strategies contaminated

The global rise in human population has escalated food demand, leading the agricultural sector to heavily rely on pesticides, which over time contaminate soil. To preserve environment, it is imperative adopt sustainable practices. Pesticides adversely affect earthworm survival and cocoon production, rendering them unsuitable for purposes. Bioremediation combined with bioaugmentation offers a solution improve pesticide-contaminated Although earthworms are effective soil bioremediation, even sublethal doses of pesticides can diminish their lifespan reproductive capabilities. This study specifically highlights impact toxicity from AlP (Aluminium phosphide) DDVP (dichlorvos) Eisenia fetida. Initial findings indicate substantial reduction production early stages following pesticide exposure, yet subsequent cow dung marginally increased production. Thus, incorporating essential when employing bioremediation Furthermore, this underscores significant harm that residues inflict fauna microorganisms residing within macrofauna.

Nowadays, the enormously growing amount of kitchen waste and wasted sludge has greatly received global attention. Vermicomposting been represented as an eco-friendly sustainable alternative for organic management. This study utilized generated by university canteen excess from municipal wastewater treatment to collaboratively realize resource through vermicomposting with a composting control. The results indicated that utilizing equal mass ratio (T3) exhibited greatest reduction in total carbon highest increase nitrogen. Furthermore, predominant phyla observed were Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes. Functional prediction analysis demonstrated higher relative abundances β-glucosidase (ascF) 6-phospho-β-glucosidase (bglA, celF) vermicomposting, suggesting earthworms essentially enhanced cellulose degradation. More importantly, co-occurrence network showed stronger interaction between Gordonia other bacteria, thereby enhancing its ability degrade macromolecular compounds. In general, can smoothly remarkably stabilize waste, assisted sawdust.
