ABSTRACT This study aimed to develop polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and kappa‐carrageenan (κCA) biocomposite films using a Pickering emulsion technique for wound care applications. Juniper essential oil modified sepiolite were incorporated enhance functionality, with prepared via solvent casting characterized structural, thermal, mechanical properties. The PCOS‐2 film exhibited the highest performance, Young's modulus of 6.25 ± 1.3 MPa, tensile strength 5.65 1.7 elongation at break 608.96% 72.8%. Antibacterial assays showed inhibition zones 9 10 mm against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli , respectively, film, while antioxidant activity reached 63% DPPH radical scavenging after 12 h. Additionally, porosity hydrophilicity enhanced, as indicated by contact angles 55° control 71.2° PCOS‐2. These results underscore potential PVA/κCA sustainable bioactive dressings, combining resilience, bioactivity, environmental compatibility, future efforts focused on optimizing antibacterial efficacy gram‐negative bacteria clinical validation.

Millions of people request bone regeneration every year, and the market for grafting materials has a positive trend. The most used biomaterials applied to replace regenerate are based on collagen different types ceramics in order mimic natural matrix. However, there lot implant-associated infections after surgery, or implants rejected because reduced biocompatibility, this is why research into graft still challenge. This study aims develop characterize novel biomimetic fillers which have simultaneously both antimicrobial properties biocompatibility with human marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Type I calcium triphosphate ratio 1:1 were as control, according our previous studies, ZnO, functionalized percentages Satureja thymbra L. essential oils, was added an antimicrobial, promoting growth, mineralization, formation. obtained by freeze-drying spongious forms characterized Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), water uptake, biodegradability over time, activity against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli viability proliferation BMSCs. material showed higher porosity interconnected pores, gradual resorption time balance between chosen ideal filler.

ABSTRACT Agriculture is an important sector of the economy but consumes significant amounts water, a precious and limited natural resource. However, superabsorbent polymers combined with essential oils (EO) can be used to obtain sustained release nutrients improved soil water retention capacity by hydrogel, they act as repellence in crops farm crop enemies. Were synthesized, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH) hydrogels, crosslinked organics acids (malic tartaric) EO incorporated (clove, orange, vanilla), novel method develop control compounds specific applications show their potential agricultural aphicide applications. The results incorporation PVOH using sonication process seen FTIR optical microscopy analysis, obtaining good performance compared traditional surfactants. In olfactometer bioassay, hydrogels repellent effect on Myzus persicae , under synthesis time specifically used, promising result for tartaric acid‐based composed Citrus chemical except vanilla EO. To reduce germination ecotoxicity, decrease growth plants, especially EO, showing inhibitory effects onion lettuce. All inhibited mycelial Aspergillus fumigatus samples 2 h reaction. clove, could alternative agents repel enemies' provide antimicrobial antifungal activity systems.
