The pressure on the environment from wastewater has been increasing in line with industrialization and urbanization, thus calling for better eco-friendly solutions treatment. Extremophilic microorganisms, which can grow extreme conditions including high salinity, acidity, temperature, be applied bioremediation. This review assesses various functions of extremophiles, halophiles, thermophiles, alkaliphiles, acidophiles treatment organic inorganic pollutants. They are capable catabolizing a wide range hazardous chemicals, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, phenolic compounds, heavy metals. Moreover, extremophilic microalgae, like Galdieria sulphuraria, have effective nutrient removal, biosorption metals, pollutant conversion into valuable biomass. dual-functioning, therefore, helps not only but also production biofuel biofertilizer, making process cost-effective. use extremophiles biofilm reactors improves less energy input. microorganisms can, used to revolutionize management by providing green current approaches. discusses existing drawbacks along additional requirements needed enhance capability bioremediation potential future research.
