Water quality is continuously deteriorating due to various drivers of change, including rapid urbanization, industrial development, inadequate sanitation facilities, and climate change. Furthermore, the detection newly monitored emerging contaminants, which are not always fully regulated, has turned water pollution into a "time bomb" on verge exploding. While laboratory-based methodologies offer significant advantages, such as high sensitivity, accuracy, selectivity, steady growth sensors soft for on-line on-site monitoring purposes cannot be overlooked. This review focuses sensor innovations over past five years, providing an in-depth comparison between classical methods novel advanced technologies. It also explores current strategies controlling potential regulation limits, solutions overcome transboundary challenges management. Special attention given class perfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS), ubiquitously found in matrices. For them, traditional technologies presented evaluate their reliability future off-lab applications.

The reuse of hazardous HCl contaminants containing various impurities is a challenging issue in academia and industry. An efficient method for the direct utilization industrial has been developed based on oxychlorination phenol using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant. By employing from hydrochloric acid chlorinating agent, 87-94% was effectively reused synthesis chlorophenols. process achieved complete conversion highly selective C-H bonds at both ortho- para-positions, particularly forming 2,4-dichlorophenol, presence reaction-promoting additives. Various characterizations indicated that surfactants promoted formation stable aggregates. reaction primarily occurred aggregates interface, with diameters less than 100 nm. These exert nanoscale limiting effect spatial structure phenol, resulting 2,4-dichlorophenol during oxidative chlorination HCl. This demonstrates treatment rate pollutants impurities.

Activated carbon used to adsorb organic pollutants and heavy metals in wastewater is often prepare precursor materials avoid re-polluting the environment. Non-precious metal heteroatom co-doped electrocatalysts have emerged as promising alternatives Pt-based catalysts due their high catalytic activity remarkable stability. This has greatly developed ORR process field of energy storage, which restricted price catalysts. In this study, bamboo shavings were pre-activated synthesize materials, subsequently mixed with an oil phase simulate “waste-activated carbon”. The results demonstrate that modified waste-activated exhibits a specific surface area, well-developed porous structure, characteristic element doping, collectively contribute effective construction active sites. Furthermore, material displays electrocatalytic performance surpasses commercial Pt/C high-performance electrocatalyst was successfully synthesized through retreatment Building on achievement, study offers novel perspective contributes advancing research resource utilization sustainable treatment carbon.
