Mountains are highly diverse in areal extent, geological and climatic context, ecosystems human activity. As such, mountain environments worldwide particularly sensitive to the effects of anthropogenic climate change (global warming) as a result their unique heat balance properties presence climatically-sensitive snow, ice, permafrost ecosystems. Consequently, systems-in particular cryospheric ones-are currently undergoing unprecedented changes Anthropocene. This study identifies discusses four major mountains upon which can impact, indeed is already doing so. These are: changing cryosphere glaciers permafrost; hazards risk; services; communities infrastructure. It notable that these different do not follow predictable trajectory evolution response change. demonstrates elements systems exhibit sensitivities forcing. Investigating the integrated development between green finance and clean energy has significant implications for achieving structural transformation sustainable financial development. This paper aims to explore path toward a positive interaction energy. To achieve this, coupling coordination degree model – system is constructed. Additionally, limited attention been paid interconnectedness of multiple factors with coordination. Hence, we introduce fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) approach diverse pathways enhance Empirical results indicate that from 2011 2020, in China improved 0.3341 0.4718. However, it remains on verge an imbalanced level. Furthermore, regional exhibits uneven development, tendency towards high-value clustering. The coordinated paths different provinces are driven by various configurations conditions. Based these findings, this study suggests should formulate policies tailored their local characteristics condition configurations, effectively promote respective regions. improves comprehension at provincial level China. employed fsQCA technique offers novel investigating developmental coordination, bearing significance promoting mutually beneficial harmonious relationship

Abstract Water security is a global concern sharpened by the biggest humanity challenge of climatic crisis. With end designing and implementing efficient sustainable water management strategies, it necessary to recognize interdependence coevolution between natural social systems understand how double way relationships these shape sustainability. The socio‐ecological (SES) sustainability approach an alternative this end. Conceptual challenges have been identified in analysis SES. These include (i) A lack clarity definition SES sustainability, (ii) non‐inclusion some inherent characteristics that determine critical thresholds, (iii) conceptual frameworks for analyzing security‐related ecosystem services. This study proposes framework, based on strong approach, focusing addressing above‐mentioned challenges. development includes three elements: key thresholds ensure ecological functionality; benefits society derives from functioning and; two‐way relationship capital systems. Analyzing elements helps identification different states SESs, security, presence endogenous or exogenous drivers change. conceptualization operationalization allows trajectories change provides insights into required strategies target territory.

The balance between the supply and demand of ecosystem services (ESSD) is important for sustainable regional development. hilly regions south China have rich natural resources are rapidly being urbanized, which significantly impacts development in region. Therefore, how to analyze ESSD from perspective social ecology imperative. Ganzhou region, a typical region southern China, as an example, this paper creatively integrated into social-ecological system (SES) framework, analyzed spatial temporal changes 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020, constructed indicators SES, driving factors ESSD, so provide reference balancing ESSD. Based on classical SES framework proposed by Ostrom, study first analyses profile at macro-scale constructs indicator system. innovation combining lies integrating perspectives merging these two concepts understand better manage relationship humans environment. It provides comprehensive analytical approach decision support tool achieving Our results demonstrate that: (1) From 2005 area were highly valued, lower areas had homogeneous distribution characteristics, total displayed differentiation, there high-value midwest, low-value concentrated region's boundary. (2) There obvious deficits southeast east area, while supply–demand equal north exceeds other regions. overall coupling coordination degree was than 0.5, indicating mild moderate imbalance. (3) (ESS) primarily driven carbon storage, habitat quality, water yield, forest grassland areas. Factors related ecosystem, resource unit, system, governance actor all experienced two-factor interactions, can explain up 99% studies hills research relevant scientific basis Chinese government evaluate ecological protections improve compensation policies, ensuring China's security.

A severe decline in ecosystem services (ES) has accompanied the rapid development of human societies. There is a growing interest considering ES management from systemic and integrated perspective. Yet, researchers still need to explore effective ways integrate natural systems for strengthening ES. This study proposes an integrating framework that connects concept social-ecological system (SES) with We utilize land use types as indicators basic SES structure employ InVEST model evaluate typical Jialing River Basin (JRB). By analyzing spatial temporal characteristics multiple ES, we investigate how related different types. The results reveal that: (1) 1980 2020, JRB underwent significant transformations, including decrease cropland areas, while construction forestland areas increased. Especially, experienced increase high 212.53%. (2) Regarding water yield (WY) increased soil conservation (SC), carbon storage (CS), habitat quality (HQ) decreased. (3) relationship analysis demonstrated disparities levels across various Construction exhibited highest average WY but lower SC, CS, HQ values compared which had higher instead. These findings imply regional will be positively or negatively affected by transformation within SES. In long run, it crucial synthesize both functional benefits provided JRB, then control favorable transformations enhance sustainable supply provides novel methodology connecting comprehensively new perspectives beneficial building enhancement.

Tropical mountain ecosystems are threatened by land use pressures, compromising their capacity to provide ecosystem services. Although local patterns and interactions among anthropogenic biophysical factors shape these socio-ecological systems, the analysis of landscape changes driving forces is often qualitative sector oriented. Using Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) framework, we characterized cover (LULC) dynamics using Markov chain probabilities elevation geographic settings then integrated them with a variety publicly available geospatial temporal data into Generalized Additive Model (GAM) evaluate such in sensitive region northern Ecuadorian Andes. Social–ecological system (SES) modeling involves developing and/or applying models to investigate complex problems arising from the interactions between humans and natural systems. Among different types, agent-based (ABM) dynamics (SD) are prominent approaches in SES modeling. However, few influence decision-making support policymaking. The objectives of this study were explore application ABM SD studies through a systematic review published real-world case determine extent which existing inform policymaking processes.
