Due to the lack of scientific and systematic thinking in early stages high-quality urbanisation, interaction stress between social-human-ecological (SHE)1 system intensified, resulting a series problems related low level ecological environment imbalanced socio-economic development. It is crucial enhance safety, health, well-being city dwellers, as well promote sustainable development region. Based on complex systems science, using Three Gorges Reservoir Area (TGRA)2 an instance, this study develops multidimensional coupling conceptual model SHE system, employs dynamics (SD)3 method clarify system's causal feedback mechanism, simulates coordination degree (CCD)4 from 2010 2030. Simultaneously, eight scenarios are created improve CCD by modifying factors. According historical sensitivity test findings, SD used work can effectively represent dynamic connection. Furthermore, under comprehensive scenario that takes into account protection environment, human intelligent regulation, development, TGRA has biggest growth CCD. As result, raising policy intensity single subsystem insufficient. Balancing implementation for each advantageous improving TGRA. The significant importance achieving management

The intensification of land use and climate change threatens watershed sustainability. These external disturbances drive complex interactions among components within socio-ecological systems (SESs). Understanding how SESs respond to these changes is crucial for developing effective integrated management strategies. Nevertheless, the nonlinear responses such remain poorly understood. To fill this gap, study proposes a network analysis method focusing on Yangtze River Basin construct an SES comprising six dimensions, revealing response coupled relationships elements land-use change. results showed that in dynamics (LUD) standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) altered link count importance nodes, with notable shifts vegetation landscape nodes. Importantly, strong LUD SPEI relationship between was observed, critical thresholds were identified all attributes. Furthermore, compared threshold, threshold stable at 0.24, demonstrating stronger robustness. This provides new perspective understanding SESs, has important implications sustainable ecosystem planning.

This research determines the potential impact of reducing food waste on future energy consumption and pollutant emissions. The study uses system dynamics modelling to simulate complex link between population, demand, output their interactions with in carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) Scenarios are developed by considering two elements: a reduction an increase output. Based case Delhi, demand expected rise 6% 35% every year, respectively, from 2023 2033. model predicts that 20% waste, combined efficiency, could reduce CO emissions 23.17% combination scenario proved be most efficient consumption. significant highlights integrated management strategies mitigating environmental impact.

Abstract Scenario and policy assessments in socioeconomic environmental studies face significant challenges socio-ecological systems (SES). There are a limited number of that have looked at the impact different scenarios within integrated approaches, many used static approach with single driver change. The present work analyzes SES dynamics for strategic basin Colombian Andes when implementing analyzing policies related to land cover use change using system simulation model. model includes natural, ecosystem services, sociocultural, economic components. Scenarios options analyzed both individually jointly identify synergies or trade-off effects between results showed trajectories according cases studied, its on variables Some counterintuitive were also identified, such as importance intrinsic motivations decision-making processes, determinants management design.
