Microplastics (MPs) were considered as emerging pollutants in soil. Cadmium (Cd) is the typical heavy metal contaminant paddy soil China. It was not unraveled that effects of existence MPs on properties and Cd adsorption after rice growth soil, one most important types In this study, several dosage 0.5% (w/w) with different particle sizes, including polyethylene (PE, 200μm), polyacrylonitrile (PAN, terephthalate (PET, 200 10μm), selected aged for a season (∼6 months) by column experiments. Some essential physicochemical collected from treatments performance contaminants (cadmium, Cd) coexisting compared. The results indicated 6-month 200μm increased water content (15.94% to 26.08-30.30%), pH value (7.05 7.16–7.33), organic matter (OM) (15.1 gkg −1 18.2–22.9 −1), percentage sand capacity whereas decreased cation exchange (CEC), clay silt. experiments showed behavior consistent pseudo-second order Langmuir isotherm model, addition would increase Besides, size found be dominant factors, which smaller (10μm) favored content, pH, OM CEC, Cd. study could provide supplemental understanding effect input ecosystem, bioavailability transport

Plastic particles of microscopic scale are present in the aquatic environment, especially at lower trophic levels where number microplastics (MPs) ingested per gram wet weight is greater than higher levels. The presence water bodies caused by anthropogenic activities and waste disposal negligence such as waste, waters, industry, agriculture, fishing, ship traffic, environmental factors, which have been monitored remote locations bioindicators tracking tools numerical modeling life cycle inventories. Our review process shows that more studies conducted northern hemisphere, most analyzed MPs either Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), or Polystyrene (PS). Moreover, several papers report potential adverse effects on biota can be disturbances feeding, mobility, reproduction may cause lethal sub-lethal consequences. Thus, to reduce impact species exposed microplastic we suggest research helps establishment limits occurrence these materials according their physical-chemical properties, uniform measuring standards, toxicity environment promote legislation for control mitigation this contamination.

Microplastics (MPs) have been identified as an emerging soil pollutant and a global environmental concern. Scientists recently paid attention to the contamination of by MPs their detrimental impacts on systems are largely unknown. considered be vectors for other contaminants, such potentially toxic elements (PTEs) organic contaminants. PTEs persistent contaminants often released into soils in large quantities. adsorb PTEs, mainly via electrostatic attraction surface complexation, increase mobility soils. These complexes can easily absorbed plants; hence, accumulation plants enhanced both microplastic PTE contaminated Furthermore, there is high risk food chains due crops grown PTE-contaminated Consequently, countermeasures including policy- governance-based approaches that target circular economy well reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) applications being discussed around world minimize MPs.

Microplastics (MPs)─i.e., plastic particles less than 5 mm in length─are becoming a growing environmental concern due to their potential ecotoxicological impacts on aquatic ecosystems. In India, MPs contamination is significantly problem increased production as well its low rate of recycling. As result, research work India has gained considerable attention the last two decades. The objective this study conduct comprehensive review existing scientific literature freshwater ecosystems (e.g., lakes and rivers) India. A bibliographical search was used across number databases including ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, ResearchGate. We found that comparison marine ecosystem source, transport, fate are still underexplored, we only 18 relevant papers. This reveals there no standard procedure for separating from water sediment samples, comparing results challenging task. larger (>500 μm) sediments were identified most commonly using attenuated total reflection (ATR) Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy technique (ATR-FTIR), whereas smaller-sized (<500 FTIR fitted with confocal microscope, also known μ-FTIR imaging or chemical imaging. white-colored fibers fragments polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), (PE) common polymer types Although momentum over past decade, limited understanding impact MPs' weathering patterns, role biofouling, hyacinths services Furthermore, fluxes Indian oceans not constrained, atmospheric transport high-altitude mountains, which have already been made fragile by climate change, fully investigated. study, therefore, calls additional assessments ecosystems─particularly central parts
