Abstract Land degradation due to mismanagement is widespread globally and may threaten the achievement of several UN Sustainable Development Goals. Yet differences in land productivity under various management patterns (land sparing vs. sharing) are poorly known. In this research, we used remote sensing data develop a machine learning model for assessing risk interpreted using state‐of‐the‐art interpretable artificial intelligence techniques. 2018, level agricultural production space Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration (YRD) was 0.230.
