Evolutions in land use urban areas exert a growing influence on ecosystem service value (ESV). As manifestation of spatial arrangement mature growth, the ecological challenges within agglomerations and their surroundings deserve attention. Therefore, clarifying interrelation ESV urbanization is crucial to constructing sustainable progress-oriented cities. Identifying the dominant factors influencing ecosystem health and their optimal thresholds is essential for management restoration of ecosystems. Most works, however, have less detected importance level individual factors, especially changes over time scale, rarely determined threshold effects on (EH), which seriously hinders formulation targeted policies sustainable management. To address these research gaps, we present an innovative visualization approach to reveal in natural anthropogenic variables nonlinear coupling process with EH China's Yellow River Basin (YRB) last two decades. Results show that (i) Although YRB has improved slightly past 20 years, it still not optimistic shows distinct spatial heterogeneity. (ii) The impact human activities increased increasingly plays a decisive role, while aspect decreased recently. Specifically, environmental (slope, NDVI, annual temperature) are affecting upstream EH. Midstream significantly affected by synergistic effect but proportion built-up land intensified (ranked from 8th 4th). Anthropogenic exert greatest influence downstream variation, population density whose order rising 7th 2nd. (iii) By illustrating response curves at multi-scale, tipping point caused deterioration explored leading oriented towards most effective conservation goal obtained. Environmental managers have sought to optimize landscape structure maintain regional ecosystem health (EH). However, we still lack a full understanding of the effects changing on EH, especially in terms shorter time scales (e.g., monthly or seasonal scales) and spatial heterogeneity. To address this gap, study used vigor-organization-resilience-services (VORS) model assess annual variation EH Loess Plateau (LP) during 2000–2015, then applied geographically weighted regression (GWR) investigate different aspects (i.e., composition configuration) change over time. Our results showed that level LP from 2000 2015 displayed temporal non-stationarity at scales, pattern decreasing southeast northwest. The had obvious heterogeneity, depending local configuration. In general, configuration exerted greater impact than apart Shannon's diversity index percentage forestland area, but intensity direction higher temporally instability therefore should receive more attention. Furthermore, regulation dominant patch size, connectivity forest spacing is optimal choice for management. suggest responses changes vary by place, integrating characteristics can help decision-makers make precise arrangements adjustments keep negative ecological impacts within reasonable limits.

Rapid urbanization in China's urban agglomerations has severely disrupted the relationship between supply and demand for ecosystem services (ESs). Exploring spatial temporal variation characteristics of ESs balance its driving mechanisms is crucial high-quality development agglomerations.
