We investigated the occurrence and environmental risk of eight contaminants emerging concern (CECs; acetaminophen, naproxen, diclofenac, methylparaben, 17β-estradiol, sulfathiazole, sulfadimethoxine, sulfamethazine) in three Brazilian water bodies, namely, Monjolinho River Basin (São Paulo State), Mogi Guaçu Itapecuru (Maranhão State) sampling campaigns. The CECs were only quantified surface samples collected at Basin. Acetaminophen, methylparaben detected range <200 to 575.9 ng L

The present study demonstrates the synthesis and application of Ag/ZnO powder films (thickness 4 μm) as photocatalysts for natural sunlight ultraviolet (UV, 315–400 nm) irradiation. procedure is simple eco-friendly, based on photo-fixation silver ions onto commercial ZnO via UV illumination first time. photocatalytic efficiency newly developed evaluated through degradation paracetamol in distilled drinking water. Our experimental evidences show that nanostructure are more active than pristine photodegradation process. Namely, modified with 10−2 M concentration achieve highest (D) percentages both types water (Ddistilled = 80.97%, Ddrinking 82.5%) under sunlight. Under exposure, slightly lower but still higher those achieved by pure 53.13%, 61.87%). It found activity grows direct proportion to Ag+ ions: < Ag 10−4/ZnO 10−3/ZnO 10−2/ZnO. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, photoelectron spectroscopy, UV–vis diffuse reflectance photoluminescence spectroscopy used characterize as-prepared nanostructures. improved performance mostly attributed combination excited transfer from inhibition photogenerated electron–hole pair recombination. Furthermore, can retain their after three cycles use, highlighting potential practical treatment pharmaceutical wastewater real-world scenarios where often readily available artificial light.
