Assessing runoff under changing land use/land cover (LULC) and climatic conditions is crucial for achieving effective sustainable water resource management on a global scale. In this study, the focus was predictions across three diverse Indian watersheds—Wunna, Bharathapuzha, Mahanadi—spanning distinct agro-climatic zones to capture varying hydrological complexities. The soil assessment (SWAT) tool used simulate future influenced by LULC climate change explore related sustainability implications, including challenges proposing countermeasures through action plan (SAP). methodology integrated high-resolution satellite imagery, cellular automata (CA)–Markov model projecting changes, downscaled data representative concentration pathways (RCPs) 4.5 8.5, representing moderate extreme scenarios, respectively. SWAT calibration validation demonstrated reliable predictive accuracy, with coefficient of determination values (R2) > 0.50 confirming reliability in simulating processes. results indicated significant increases surface due urbanization, reaching >1000 mm, 600 400 mm southern southeastern Wunna, northwestern Mahanadi, respectively, especially 2040 RCP 8.5. These findings indicate that quality, agricultural productivity, urban infrastructure may be threatened. proposed SAP includes nature-based solutions, like wetland restoration, climate-resilient strategies mitigate adverse effects partially achieve development goals (SDGs) clean action. This research provides robust framework watershed similar regions worldwide.

Abstract Climate change has been recognised as a major concern in coastal hotspots exposed to multiple climate hazards under regionally specific characteristics of vulnerability. We review the emerging research and current trends academic literature on risk adaptation from human security perspective. The ecological socioeconomic developments are analysed for key areas, including infrastructure; water, food fisheries; health; mobility; conflict, taking different geographical contexts areas islands, megacities deltas into consideration. Compounding cascading interactions require integrative policy approaches address growing complexity. Governance mechanisms focus management adaptation, nature-based solutions community-based considering their synergies trade-offs. This perspective allows holistic view risks vicious circles societal instability systems interconnectedness dimensions necessary sustainable transformative most affected hotspots.

Water inequality could exacerbate global water scarcity due to the finite nature of resources. markets aimed at overcoming failures in public distribution systems may offer potential solutions inequality. However, existing studies failed explain how and are related. This study constructs a inequality-water market conceptual framework fill this gap. It examines influence on context China's Rights Trading Pilot. argues that based economic rationality can mitigate compared command-and-control policies. In addition, mitigating effect relies changing industrial structure, promoting technological innovation irrigation, improving recycled use. The economic inequalities impede the equal distribution of water among various household groups, potentially leading to inequal access this vital resource. By integrating a multi-regional input–output model with expenditure, we investigate footprint (WF) for ten income groups in each provinces and evaluate inequality regions, households, expenditure categories comprehensively. Our findings reveal significant disparities footprints, urban households exhibiting nearly three times WF rural residents. Wealthier eastern show higher per capita consumption-based WFs compared less developed western regions. interregional trade exacerbates because water-intensive goods are produced regions being consumed more provinces. This study underscores importance targeted policies address inequality, achieve sustainable management, promote equitable use face increasing demand supply imbalances.

ABSTRACT The heterojunction based on plasmonic metals of Ag and Cu in the oxide form was synthesized decorated carbon nanotubes to Ag‐Cu 2 O/MWCNTs nanocomposites via a pulsed laser ablation process for water treatment. This study presents synthesis characterization Ag/MWCNTs with different amounts O NPs using novel two‐step technique enhanced photocatalytic degradation Congo Red dye under UV–visible‐light irradiation. Structural optical techniques confirmed successful formation highly pure crystalline nanocomposites, coupling significantly visible‐light absorption, making effective applications, which were systematically evaluated varying pH, catalyst dosage, concentration, irradiation time conditions. results demonstrated that 60 min (30min 30 Ag), O/MWCNTs(2), achieved highest efficiency 99.43% (CR) at pH 8.0 an optimal dosage. Kinetic studies mechanism revealed photodegradation followed Langmuir‐Hinshelwood pseudo‐first‐order model, O/MWCNTs(2) exhibiting fastest rate, outperforming other samples by degrading CR dye. work underscores potential as efficient photocatalysts environmental remediation, particularly organic pollutants wastewater. findings provide valuable insights into optimizing processes practical offering promising solution sustainable treatment pollution control.
