With the increase of operation cycle in long-distance water conveyance project, problem silt or algae residue deposition river channels is becoming more and prominent, especially vicinity some uncommonly used bifurcation outflow gates along project. When reaches certain thickness, it will not only affect quality local bodies, but also seriously normal these gates. Abstract Eutrophication is a major global concern in lakes, caused by excessive nutrient loadings (nitrogen and phosphorus) from human activities likely exacerbated climate change. Present use of indicators to monitor assess lake eutrophication restricted water quality constituents (e.g. total phosphorus, nitrogen) does not necessarily represent environmental changes the anthropogenic influences within lake’s drainage basin. Nutrients interact multiple ways with climate, basin conditions socio-economic development, point-source, diffuse source pollutants), systems. It therefore essential account for complex feedback mechanisms non-linear interactions that exist between nutrients ecosystems assessments. However, lack set holistic understanding challenges such assessments, addition limited monitoring data available. In this review, we synthesize main freshwater basins only include but also sources, biogeochemical pathways responses emissions. We develop new causal network (i.e. links indicators) using DPSIR (drivers-pressure-state-impact-response) framework highlights interrelationships among provides perspective dynamics basins. further review 30 key drivers pressures seven cross-cutting themes: (i) hydro-climatology, (ii) socio-economy, (iii) land use, (iv) characteristics, (v) crop farming livestock, (vi) hydrology management, (vii) fishing aquaculture. This study indicates need more comprehensive systems, guide expansion networks, support integrated assessments manage eutrophication. The interaction between antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in freshwater ecosystems has become a critical environmental concern. This study investigates seasonal variations of sulfonamide tetracycline their relationship with ARGs three urban reservoirs Nanjing, China: Pingshan Forest Park, Shanhu Lake Wetland Zhaoqiao Reservoir. Sampling was conducted May September 2023 to assess water quality, concentrations, ARG abundance. A total 30 samples were analyzed regard physicochemical parameters, heavy metals, antibiotics. quantitative PCR assay used measure the abundance relative 16S rRNA gene. Sulfonamide concentrations ranged from 120 ng/L, while tetracyclines 50–160 ng/L. The total nitrogen/total phosphorus (TN/TP) ratio is considered a valuable indicator for evaluating the abundance of phytoplankton and eutrophic condition water body, but its effectiveness as an eutrophication at different watershed scales has not been fully explored. In this study, we collected data from 103 lakes within four major watersheds in China utilized machine learning models eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) k-nearest neighbors (KNN) to predict TN/TP three scales. We identified notable disparities ratio, chlorophyll concentration, algal cell density across By incorporating time input variable, were able capture temporal trends which enhanced predictive accuracy fit models. optimization ratios model indicators' coefficient determination, root-mean-square error, mean absolute percentage error are 35.71 ± 25.26%, 0.43 0.17%, 1.47 1.19%, respectively. XGBoost demonstrated higher better than KNN. Our results reveal substantial impact scale on predicting eutrophication-limiting nutrients bodies.
