Abstract Chaohu Lake is a representative lake in China that suffers from severe eutrophication and algal blooms. Understanding the changes lake’s eutrophic condition over time essential for its restoration management under background of global regional sustainability. In this context, compositions carbon nitrogen isotopes ( δ 13 C org 15 N, respectively), total organic (TOC), (TN), carbon–nitrogen ratio (C/N) were analysed to depict history state Lake, relationship with environmental changes. The result show before 1950s, primary productivity was low. During period 1950s 1970s, increased substantially due eutrophication. From 1970s present, as construction Floodgate Station, water replacement semi-closed gradually slowed nutrients began accumulate more rapidly. These conditions led enhanced rapid eutrophication, mainly caused by intensified human activities exogenous inputs. Our findings suggest geochemical records , TOC, TN, C/N ratios) sediment are capable recording important shifts temporal evolution lake-water trophic state.

Abstract The coexisting strategies of plants under interspecific competition driven the trajectory succession which concerned ecological success biodiversity maintenance in restored or created wetlands. To reveal mechanism and guide management vegetation recovery, 220 vascular from 19 lakeside wetlands were systematically analyzed. Ochiai index (OI) indicated that 62.41% 435 pairs species exhibited negative correlation compared with 37.58% positive correlation. coexistence heterospecific was mainly accomplished via spatial temporal niche partitioning, as well trade-offs height coverage plants. In terms partition, emergent found to have a wider breadth 1.67 ± 0.60 upland 1.28 0.36. temporal, 33.6% occurred spring, 26.8% autumn, 39.5% both seasons.
