In this study, Iron–Carbon Micro-Electrolysis (ICME), Fenton oxidation, and their combination were investigated to treat the leachate obtained from a wastewater treatment plant located in southern China. The results show that Fenton-ICME process was most efficient one. After treated with process, COD concentration reduced initial 35,772 mg/L 13,522 mg/L, removal efficiency up 62.2%. addition, biological oxygen demand (BOD) ratio increased by 40% at optimal conditions. This suggests biodegradability of has been increased, facilitating biodegradation after it is mixed raw wastewater. By studying characteristic variation found combined mainly removes organic compounds such as aromatic compounds, ketones, aldehydes. separated sludge does not have crystalline structure, iron exists form trivalent iron. It reveals great potential be used pretreatment leachate.

Abstract This study aims to improve COD, NH 3 ‐N, and turbidity removal from Bingöl's leachate using a single‐reactor integrated electrocoagulation (EC)–coal‐based powdered activated carbon (CBPAC) process under various experimental conditions. In the EC‐CBPAC process, three stainless‐steel cathodes aluminum electrodes were connected negative positive terminals of power supply, respectively. The initial concentrations in 1044 mg O 2 /L for 204 mg/L 57 NTU (or 71.25‐mg (NH )2H SO 4 /L) turbidity, After 40‐min with CBPAC dosage 5 g/L pH COD 9.5 optimum efficiencies achieved at 92%, 40%, 91%, When EC was applied without same conditions, 87%, 28%, 54%, Before after Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area, pore volume, mean diameter found be (888 m /g, 0.498 cm 22.28 Å) (173 0.18 42.8 Å), pseudo‐first‐order (PFO) rate constants ‐N determined 3.15 × 10 −2 , 4.77 8.8 −3 min −1 With current density increasing 15 25 mA/cm energy consumption, unit total cost increased 68.7 122.4 kWh/m 6.948 15.226 kWh/kg 0.85 1.838 $/kg Practitioner points has greater efficiency than process. their disposal 92% respectively, most efficient observed 40% 9.5. by 20%, 19%, 38%, compared alone. fitted PSO model due high correlation values ( R 0.94–0.99).
