ABSTRACT Rapid socioeconomic developments take the price of prominent environmental pollution problems, which necessitate a delicate equilibrium between urban development and protection through governments’ scientific planning. This study delves into sustainable trajectory for agglomerations, focusing on Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) agglomeration in China. Employing STIRPAT model Conley–Ligon model, it assesses impact factors their spillover effects. The incorporates three distinct developmental scenarios designed to simulate regional economic growth protection. Our findings reveal substantial influence local spatial effects from neighboring counties within BTH region PM 2.5 concentration. Economic level governance expenditure emerge as pivotal affecting increase decrease concentration, with observed counties. effectiveness balancing air economy is better under Zoning Cooperated scenario than Government Planning trend extrapolation scenario. means that more 96% 100 million people will live areas clean air. In light these findings, research proposes pertinent policy recommendations, offering novel efficacious solution agglomerations rapidly developing countries or regions worldwide grappling intricate trade‐off development.
