The aim of this article was to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties a geopolymeric material developed by replacing metakaolin, conventional precursor, with fine green foundry sand waste (FGFSW). Substitution ratios 0% (reference specimen), 5%, 10%, 15% 20% were used, as well molar SiO2/Al2O3 equal 3.0 3.5. specimens cured at 7, 14 28 days then tested for compressive strength, water absorption, void ratio, dry density saturated density. In addition, subjected macrographic tests assess geopolymer material. results showed reduction in strength substitution increased. There also decrease increased, an increase porosity absorption matrix. These effects attributed presence FGFSW grains which did not take part geopolymerization reaction, having low contributing strength. Finally, incorporating into production geopolymers appears be possible alternative disposing waste.

Global circular economy drives the development of sustainable alkali activated materials (AAM) for use as construction material from industrial by-products and wastes. The assessment potentially hazardous substances release these new combinations into soil groundwater over time is essential. In this study, aim environmental three AAMs based on blast furnace slag (BFS), with almond shell biomass ash (ABA) potassium source solid sources silica agricultural industry, rice husk (RHA), spent diatomaceous earth (SDE) bamboo leaf (BLA), using European horizontal leaching tests proposed materials, monolithic form, Dynamic Surface Leaching Test (DSLT) granular Up-flow Percolation Compliance test, by simulating different scenarios their entire life cycle. results AAM showed effectiveness inertization all recycled studied, which exceeded some inert limits, means activation process. Despite absence significant differences in mechanisms oxyanions As, Cr, Mo, Sb, Se V between developed, they presented long-term behavior depending monolithic, or granular, therefore cycle stages. Therefore, it concluded that although incorporation agro-industrial waste alternative activators BFS according to Dutch Soil Quality Decree (for unrestricted materials) an environmentally acceptable option, design derived should be assessed a combination cover expected

Inadequate disposal of hazardous waste results risks to the environment and human health. Although use in new processes and/or products has received limited attention literature, there is still significant potential be investigated. Reducing usage natural resources management are important for sustainable practices during concrete production. This study investigated mechanical leaching behavior paint booth (PBW) as a partial substitute (10, 20, 30 40%) coarse aggregate mixtures manufacture interlocking blocks. A sample PBW used this research differs from those literature due its granulometry characterized by aggregates different sizes. Concrete consistency, compressive strength, water absorption, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, tests were carried out. The did not influence consistency fresh state concrete. blocks with smaller substitutions (10 20%) presented denser structures greater strengths, surpassing 35 MPa after 28 days. Higher levels resulted more porous absorption. concrete-PBW showed no metal toxicity, i.e., incorporation construction material avoided leaching. up 20% demonstrated satisfactory environmental performance.
