Abstract As an important component of aquatic ecosystems, benthic animals are sensitive bioindicators for evaluating water pollution. In this study, we investigated the diversity macrobenthic communities and analyzed pivotal environmental factors affecting alterations in East Taihu Lake. This analysis was augmented by controlled laboratory simulation experiments designed to elucidate validate responses critical indicator species within various functional zones shifts. study shows:(1) Bellamya purificata, Limnodrilus Tubifex were dominant on a year-round scale. Abstract Submerged macrophytes can overgrow and negatively affect freshwater ecosystems. This study aimed to investigate the use of chlormequat (CQ) regulate submerged Vallisneria natans growth as well its impact on microbial community epiphytic biofilms. V. height under CQ dosages 20, 100, 200 mg/L decreased within 21 days by 12.57%, 30.07%, 44.62%, respectively, while chlorophyll content increased 1.94%, 20.39%, 38.83%. At 100 mg/L, reduced diversity bacteria in biofilm attached leaves but eukaryotic community. strongly inhibited Cyanobacteria; compared with control group, treatment group experienced a significant reduction from 36.54% 2.61%.
