The interaction between the natural environmental and socioeconomic factors is crucial for assessing dynamics of plateau ecosystems. Therefore, remote sensing ecological index (RSEI) CatBoost-SHAP model were employed to investigate changes in quality their driving Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, China, from 2001 2021. results showed an increase 0.44 0.71 2021 average RSEI indicating overall upward trend quality. Spatial analysis shows percentage area covered by different levels temporal changes. revealed that “good” accounted largest proportion study area, at 42.77%, followed “moderate” 21.93%, “excellent” 16.62%. “Fair” areas 16.11% “poor” only 2.57%. drivers based on framework also indicated climate have a greater impact than factors; however, this effect differed significantly with altitude. findings suggest that, addition strengthening monitoring, further advancements engineering are required ensure sustainable development ecosystem continuous improvement Prefecture.

In managing ecosystem services (ESs), it is vital to understand and effectively regulate the trade-offs synergies (ToSs) involved. This study investigates Tianshan Mountains (TSMs), utilizing InVEST (Integrated Valuation of ESs Tradeoffs) model evaluate service changes from 2000 2020, while employing univariate linear regression examine their spatiotemporal dynamics. Pearson correlation analysis was also conducted assess how climatic variables (temperature precipitation) vegetation indicators (NDVI, normalized difference index) influence overall benefits. The findings reveal notable spatial heterogeneity dynamic shifts in across TSMs, with strong observed between carbon storage (CS) other (such as habitat quality, HQ; soil conservation, SC; water yield, WY), especially areas experiencing increased vegetation. However, connection HQ WY comparatively weaker occasionally exhibited negative correlations during specific periods, highlighting intricate among various services. further showed that climate significantly impact benefits, declining precipitation rising temperatures reducing these whereas higher NDVI associated improved functions. Ultimately, this emphasizes necessity recognizing ToSs promote sustainable regional development.

Abstract The Qilian Mountains (QLMs) serve as a vital ecological security barrier in the northwest China, determining optimal fractional vegetation cover (FVC) of different land-use types is crucial for restoration and protection. Based on normalized index, meteorological data, soil data InVEST model, bivariate spatial autocorrelation elastic analysis, we calculated water conservation, conservation carbon storage, analyzed spatio-temporal distribution characteristics FVC ecosystem services (ES) correlation between them. This study aims to evaluate restoration’s effect it QLMs. results showed that ES an increasing trend from 2000 2020, with pattern high values southeast low northwest. There was significant positive service functions (p < 0.05), had most obvious followed by conservation. varied type, its value 0.4 0.48 forest land, 0.24 0.30 grassland 0.19 0.20 unused land. In eastern QLMs, nearly 70% forests 50% grasslands exceeded coverage, while 36% 62% lands were under-covered western findings suggest differentiated management measures should be formulated according status restoration, enhance comprehensive capacity

Abstract The ecosystems within agro-pastoral transition zones exhibit inherent fragility and heightened susceptibility to climate variability, exacerbated by profound degradation resulting from anthropogenic activities. Subsequent vegetation in these areas precipitates severe soil erosion, presenting formidable challenges for ecological restoration efforts. utilization of microtopographic structures mitigate erosion facilitate recovery stands as a prominent strategy zones. Despite the acknowledgment current practices that efficacy microtopography-based is contingent upon slope, aspect elevation, there remains notable absence precise observed information on this correlation. This study, conducted Bashang Grassland, typical zone northern China, aims fill gap concerning correspondence between outcomes. Our findings revealed microtopography has significant impact characteristics, with outcomes varying location. Shaded slopes displayed higher biomass density compared sunny valleys. While affected community structure, it did not substantially alter species richness, highlighting critical role location pit construction successful endeavors. study provides insights selection, design assessment vulnerable ecosystems.
