Landscape changes driven by anthropogenic activities often have negative impacts on ecosystems, jeopardizing the provision of vital services that sustain biotic elements and wildlife. Predicting effects such transformations is crucial for developing strategies to mitigate ecological damage. This study explores interaction land use habitat quality estimates in Upper Paraguay River Basin Brazil, using InVEST Habitat Quality model estimate spatiotemporal landscape trends evaluate potential impact policies future. Under a business-as-usual scenario 2050, are simulated shaping quality, degradation, rarity as proxies biodiversity conservation. Results show an extensive expansion pastures through deforestation, leading progressive degradation with significant decay predicted observed quality. The index spatial decrease from 0.78 0.57 1989-2050 period. same trend protected areas period 2019-2050, increase 0.80 conservation units, 0.75 0.53 indigenous lands. For improved outcomes, this work introduces new insights environmental actions can be flagged sustainable management practices perspectives towards pressures at different scales. Therefore, government institutions responsible protection units communities informed about their territories. findings suggest incorporating additional climate-related variables could valuable direction future studies extend further modelling approaches explored work.

However, it remains unclear how what extent ESG could best be integrated into systems benefit farmers. Drawing on existing scientific literature, this article aims (i) identify current emerging themes research relevant sector, (ii) describe gaps thus opportunities progress an agenda Australia (iii) propose potential future directions based initial findings. This review demonstrates that sector its early stages, but changing quickly there opportunity for academic advance our science-based knowledge agriculture. We suggest focus policy management innovative technologies with goal addressing limitations advancing adoption principles practices Specifically, we recommend efforts made create credentials improve sustainable producers verifying improved outcomes.

Purpose This study examines the impact of ESG lending and technology-related capital expenditures on banking performance in BRICS economies. It assesses how these factors influence return risk-weighted assets nonperforming loans, providing insights into role sustainable finance digital transformation stability. Design/methodology/approach Using quarterly panel data (2015–2023) from commercial banks Brazil, Russia, India, China South Africa (BRICS), this employs fixed-effects regression models to estimate effects technology investment performance. A robustness check is conducted by segmenting sample large small assess moderating institutional scale. Findings The results indicate that greater exposure high-ESG firms enhances improving RoRWA reducing NPLs. Similarly, borrowers investing exhibit more substantial financial stability, leading lower credit risk for banks. are pronounced smaller banks, suggesting technology-driven strategies provide mitigation benefits institutions with resource constraints. Practical implications findings highlight strategic importance integrating frameworks. Banks should develop specialized products enhance technology-based assessments optimize strategies. Policymakers introduce incentives promote finance, encourage standardize reporting across emerging markets. Originality/value contributes literature jointly examining investments provides empirical evidence BRICS, highlighting scale shaping effectiveness offer actionable regulators seeking balance sustainability high-growth but volatile
