ABSTRACT This study investigates the nonlinear effects of economic efficiency on CO 2 reduction and energy transition, with a particular focus advancing SDGs 7, 9, 13. Using panel data from 61 countries, analysis applies slacks‐based measure directional distance functions (SBM‐DDF) threshold regression models to explore complex relationship between efficiency, emissions, transition. Key findings reveal that while has generally improved over time, significant regional disparities remain. Improvements in lead substantial reductions emissions promote but is nonlinear, influenced by factors such as climate vulnerability, global value chain (GVC) integration, digitalization, intensity. Heightened vulnerability deeper integration into GVC amplify emission‐reducing whereas increased digitalization initially attenuates its decarbonization impact before shifting toward suppressive effect, concurrently reversing influence transition inhibitive facilitative. Furthermore, under higher intensity, exerts more pronounced both carbon abatement acceleration The also highlights heterogeneity across income levels, upper‐middle‐income countries experiencing stronger positive effects. These emphasize need for tailored, context‐sensitive policies account sectoral dynamics optimize sustainable development.

Abstract Obviously, financial development is one of the factors to consider in designing climate policies. We investigated effects on co 2 emissions alongside income, total factor productivity, and international trade Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Ignoring common can lead erroneous findings misleading policy recommendations. The same consequences occur if nature a factor’s incorrectly considered. Hence, Asymmetric Pooled Mean Group augmented with unobserved factors—a cutting-edge method allowing for discovery not only features pooled panel but also characteristics each country—was applied data from 1992 2021. Additionally, we accounted key properties time series data—cross-sectional dependence, non-stationarity heterogeneity. To our knowledge, there no such application GCC countries, internationally. In measures, few research are worth considering. (i) policies should account as ignoring them makes misleading. (ii) an upturn leads less than downturn it. This asymmetric effect implies that boost development. (iii) countries may converge identical relationship long run implying initiatives projects authorities work jointly.

The digital economy (DE) is a new driver for enhancing total factor productivity (TFP). Using panel data from 30 provinces in China between 2011 and 2022, this study measures DE TFP using the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method Global Malmquist–Luenberger further examines impact of on industries. main findings are as follows: (1) can significantly improve TFP, though extent improvement varies. has greatest service industry, followed by manufacturing with weakest effect agricultural industry. (2) enhancement agriculture industry more pronounced central western regions, while evident eastern region. (3) facilitated industries such textiles special equipment manufacturing, well like wholesale retail. However, it not had significant pharmaceutical real estate. This theoretical value policy implications other developing countries exploring achieving high-quality industrial development.
