This study analyzed the changes in landscape patterns and ecological health status of karst plateau wetlands, providing valuable insights into their conservation. Using land cover data from 1996 to 2021, DEM, Landsat series satellite imagery, this employed ecology methods pressure–state–response (PSR) model framework. A regional grid was constructed, 13 indicators were selected establish an evaluation system for wetlands. allowed us explore spatiotemporal change characteristics pattern The results showed that over a 25-year period, farmland, grassland, construction areas have increased, whereas forested decreased. This study examined the wetland ecology, institutional frameworks, and governance mechanisms for managing self-recruiting small indigenous fishes (SIFs) across four wetlands in lower Gangetic plain, a region bridging Himalayan Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspots. Using mixed-method approach, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with 100 respondents from fisher community, focus group discussions, unpublished records, direct observations. The findings revealed lack of systematic three wetlands, possibly due to their size, which fostered informal regulations among community members. Chamardaha (35.813) received low score an Ecosystem Health Index (EHI; range: 0–100) others, viz., Beledanga (53.813), Kumil (45.237), Panchita (54.989), medium score. A wide range significant (p < 0.05) effect sizes (β = −0.20 0.65) was found different parameters on sustainability average per capita income society. Our investigation showed that 90% 76% harvested SIFs sold rest consumed within meet part nutritional needs. Ecological quality (EQ) and ecosystem health (EH) are closely related. Previous studies haven't addressed their spatial relationships fully; therefore, whether there is consistency between the two remains unclear. In this study, EQ EH of Mekong River Basin (MRB), located in Southeast Asia, were determined by applying Remote Sensing Index (RSEI) Vigor, Organization, Resilience, Services (VORS) models, a comparative analysis was conducted. The results showed that (RSEI_mean = 0.56) (EHI_mean 0.59) had high degrees consistency. However, some degree differences certain land use types, such as grassland 0.46; EHI_mean 0.57) cropland 0.41; 0.47), may have been influenced selection service types prioritized VORS model. addition, significant areas with relatively elevations, especially barren 0.61; 0.23), showing asymmetry. correlation coefficient increases significantly from 0.62 to 0.72 after excluding altitude areas. These indicate relationship probably applicable natural environments low altitudes less human activity.
