Abstract As the urgency to combat climate change intensifies, developing innovative and efficient carbon sequestration strategies capture store dioxide (CO2) from industrial sources has become a critical priority. This paper reviews simultaneous scCO2-brine aquifer injection (SAI) water alternating gas (WAG) methods for geologic proposes novel integration with saltwater disposal wells (SWDs). Small-to-medium emitters, defined as facilities emitting between 10,000 100,000 metric tons of CO2 annually, stand benefit significantly this approach, which leverages pre-existing infrastructure reduce costs while enhancing storage efficiency. The SAI-WAG method optimizes practices by balancing flood front, accelerating mineral carbonation, improving Coupling SWDs may offer economic advantages reducing need additional in geological storage. However, challenges such high salinity, mechanical stability, overpressure, injectivity loss must be addressed ensure feasibility. To strengthen cause method, we recommend conducting quantitative analyses evaluate its potential emissions capacity. study provides insights into feasibility viability offering promising pathway advancing CCS technologies. Future research will explore long-term stability effectiveness approach support widespread adoption.
