Worsening environmental conditions may amplify people's emotional responses to an crisis (eco-anxiety). In Portugal, young people seem be especially concerned about climate change. However, this phenomenon needs interpreted using accurate instruments. Thus, study aimed validate the Portuguese version of Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS) in adults and examine associations among eco-anxiety, sociodemographic characteristics, pro-environmental behaviours.A survey was administered 623 university students aged between 18 25 years. The included our translation HEAS (obtained through a back-translation pretesting process), assessment, questions related behaviours. Confirmatory factor analysis conducted assess construct validity HEAS, global fit indices were used whether original four-dimensional structure scale reproduced. reliability evaluated by Cronbach's alpha intraclass correlation coefficient. Measurement invariance examined sex differences interpretation. Linear regressions detect variables predict eco-anxiety predicts behaviours. The factorial replicated showing good internal consistency, over time strict men women. A higher paternal education level predicted greater children. Two dimensions eco-anxiety-namely, rumination anxiety personal impacts on environment-predicted engagement translated is appropriate tool measure context should collect evidence drive health policies. An individual's considered determinant their response conditions. Importantly, can act as protective preserving planet.

A cross-sectional online conducted on a quota sample 1,075 participants (51.9% women) aged 18-79 years. Participants self-reported their change-related (e.g. television) media social networks), assessment risk, level worry about change, frequency PEB.
