Introduction This study examines the contribution of non-visual nature elements in attention restoration, addressing a gap research that often prioritizes visual stimuli. While previous studies emphasize components, this investigates whether restoration can occur absence input. Methods A within-subject experiment involving 47 participants compared three conditions: multisensory nature-like environment (visual, auditory, olfactory, and tactile stimuli), similar without stimuli, control condition with no Results discrepancy between subjective objective measures was observed. Although self-reported improved by existence both conditions promoted significant physiological benefits (parasympathetic activation sympathetic deactivation were indicated from heart rate variability electrodermal activity) substantial differences presence or No statistical significance found cognitive among all conditions. Discussion These findings challenge vision-centric paradigm restorative environments highlight potential stimuli to independently foster recovery. By incorporating nature, underscores importance modalities design. Practical implications include development for urban spaces healthcare settings where access is limited.
