Introduction Theories of Environmental Sensitivity postulate that those who are highly sensitive thrive in favourable contexts and more disadvantaged by unfavourable ones; however, negative outcomes, instead positive, often investigated. In this study, instead, we focus on human flourishing what promotes it or hinders it. Recent literature shows connected with nature, nature connectedness is known to confer psychological benefits. On the contrary, a chaotic home environment associated decreased well-being. We hypothesise will negatively impact flourishing, particularly for sensitive, while being have positive effect them. Middle older adulthood less investigated stages life. Methods 856 participants aged 40+ were surveyed their level sensory processing sensitivity (SPS), current chaos home, connectedness. A subsample 12 people then interviewed better understand role these dimensions as person. Results The results from quantitative analysis revealed was positively age higher SPS. Nature significantly moderated relationship between /and did not. This interaction not significant youngest (40–49 years) cohort. Qualitative data interviews provided deeper insights into challenges faced individuals, including emotional reactivity feelings different, exacerbated stressors such noise conflict at home. Participants reported benefits nature. Discussion Overall, showed connecting contributes middle age. findings support potential future nature-based interventions promote people.
