The photo-reduction of bromate (BrO3 -) has attracted much attention due to the carcinogenesis and genotoxicity BrO3 - in drinking water. In this study, a heterojunction photocatalyst was developed by depositing Au nanoparticles (NPs) onto P25 TiO2 NPs through one-pot, solvent-thermal process. Due unique properties Au, deposited on surface created Schottky barrier between metal semiconductor, leading an effective separation photo-generated charge carriers as served electron sinks. Au/TiO2 demonstrated efficient reduction under UV light illumination without need for sacrificial agents. effect different loading systematically investigated its influence generation electrons ability -. results indicate that 1% catalyst exhibited higher concentration localized electrons, rendering it more removal. photocatalytic efficiency decreased upon addition K2S2O8 quencher, suggesting primary factor process availability electrons. These findings hold promise potential application removal from water photo-reduction.
