Carbon quantum dots (CQDs), a new class of carbon-based nanomaterials, have emerged as nano-scaled probes with photoluminescence that an eco-friendly and bio-compatible nature. Their cost-efficient synthesis high yields make them indispensable due to their application in opto-electronic devices, including biosensors, bioimaging, environmental monitoring, light sources. This review provides intrinsic properties CQDs such excitation-dependent emission, biocompatibility, quenching properties. Diverse strategies for easy are divided into bottom-up top-down approaches detailed herein. In particular, we highlight luminescence properties, mechanisms could even be utilized the precise rapid detection biomolecules. This article discusses the design and analysis of a new chemical chemosensor for detecting mercury(II) ions. 2,4,6-Trinitrophenol (TNP) has high explosive risks and biological toxicity, there been considerable concern over the determination of TNP. In present work, fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) stemmed from a green source pinecone by facile hydrothermal approach. A novel environment- friendly probe was developed to efficiently detect TNP using obtained CDs with remarkable fluorescence stability. The exhibited obvious excitation dependence highest peaks for emission occurring at 321 411 nm, respectively. intensity is significantly reduced owing inner filter effect CDs. good linearity concentrations in range 0.025–20 μg mL−1, limit detection as low 8.5 ng mL−1. Additionally, proved successful sensing quantitatively actual environmental samples satisfied recoveries 95.6–99.6%. offered an environment-friendly, efficient, rapid, reliable platform detecting trace field.

Abstract To realize the practical application of carbon dots (CDs), it is crucial to devise straightforward techniques that can finely modulate fluorescent properties CDs. Apart from that, imperative weaken aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) effect, which poses a significant challenge utilization solid‐state In this work, three CDs named as CDs‐1, CDs‐2, and CDs‐3 are synthesized, fluorescence tuning these successfully realized, assisted by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant, because its unique molecular structure conducive in bolstering intensity adjusting emission wavelength. Furthermore, luminescence achieved employing CTAB substrate matrix‐assisted synthesis composites CDs‐1@CTAB, CDs‐2@CTAB, CDs‐3@CTAB. Notably, photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) CDs‐2@CTAB reaches an impressive value high 79.31%, surpassing 70.29% obtained pristine CDs‐2. The experimental results reveal CDs@CTAB exhibit intriguing afterglow characteristics including room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) thermally activated delayed (TADF).
