ABSTRACT In polluted water, cooccurrences of two carcinogens, arsenic (As) and chromium (Cr), are extensively reported. Individual effects these heavy metals have been reported in kidney fishes, but underlying molecular mechanisms not well established. There is no report on combined exposure As Cr kidney. Thus, the present study investigated compared individual zebrafish ( Danio rerio ) treating at their environmentally relevant concentrations for 15, 30, 60 days. Increased ROS levels, lipid peroxidation, GSH level, decreased catalase activity implied oxidative stress treated Damage histoarchitecture groups was also noticed. The current involved gene expression Nrf2, an important transcription factor cellular responses along with its negative regulator Keap1 downstream antioxidant genes nqo1 ho1 . Results indicated activation Nrf2‐Keap1 pathway after exposure. Expression pattern ogg1 , apex1 polb creb1 revealed inhibition base excision repair treatments. mRNA tumor suppressor p53 brca2 altered. Expressional alteration bax bcl2 caspase9 caspase 3 apoptosis (intrinsic pathway) induction, which maximum group. Inhibition DNA induction that activated system enough to overcome damage caused by Cr. Overall, this additive chronic focusing responses.
