Panax ginseng (Meyer) and notoginseng (Burkill), belonging to the family Araliaceae, are used worldwide as medicinal functional herbs. Numerous publications over past decades have revealed that both P. contain important bioactive ingredients such ginsenosides exert multiple pharmacological effects on nervous system immune diseases. However, based traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, their applications clearly differ reinforces vital energy promotes blood circulation. In this article, we review similarities differences between in terms of chemical composition effects. Their comparisons indicate contains more polysaccharides amino acids, while has saponins, volatile oil, polyacetylenes. Regarding effects, exhibits better protective cardiovascular disease, nerve cancer, diabetes mellitus, whereas displays a superior effect cerebrovascular disease. The evidence presented facilitates further research clinical these two herbs, exploration relationship components disease efficacy may be critical next step.

In recent years, several therapeutic drugs have been rationally designed and synthesized based on the novel knowledge gained from investigating actions of biologically active chemicals derived foods, plants, medicinal herbs. One major advantages these naturalistic is their ability to interact with multiple targets in body resulting a combined beneficial effect. Ginseng perennial herb (Araliaceae family), species within genus Panax, highly valued popular plant. Evidence for health benefits Panax ginseng its components preventing neurodegeneration has increased significantly past decade. The effects P. neurodegenerative diseases attributed primarily antioxidative immunomodulatory activities ginsenoside components. Mechanistic studies neuroprotective ginsenosides revealed that they act not only as antioxidants but also modulators intracellular neuronal signaling metabolism, cell survival/death genes, mitochondrial function. goal present paper provide brief review developments concerning well mechanism action treatment prevention diseases.

Ginseng is a traditional Chinese medicine with wide range of pharmacological activities. Ginsenosides are the major constituents ginseng. have unique biological activity and medicinal value, such as antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidation, inhibition cell apoptosis. With increase stress in life, incidence nervous system diseases also increasing. Neurological pose huge burden on people’s life health. In recent years, some studies shown that ginsenosides certain role prevention treatment neurological diseases. However, research still its infancy, relevant mechanisms complex. paper, we review effects epilepsy, depression, cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease. We hope to provide theoretical basis for by ginsenosides.

As our global population ages, the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases is critical to society. In recent years, researchers have begun study role biologically active chemicals from plants and herbs gain new inspiration develop therapeutic drugs. Ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Mey.) a famous Chinese herbal medicine with variety pharmacological activities. It has been used treat various since ancient times. Extensive research over years shown that potential as neuroprotective drug, its effects can be prevent neurological damage or pathologically related (such Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Huntington’s depression symptoms, strokes). Moreover, evidence for medicinal health benefits ginsenoside, main ingredient, in prevention increasing, current clinical results not reported any serious adverse reactions ginseng. Therefore, we briefly review development on beneficial mechanisms diseases, hoping provide some ideas discovery identification neuroprotection.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder in the elderly characterized by memory loss and cognitive dysfunction. The pathogenesis of AD complex. One-targeted anti-AD drugs usually fail to delay progression. Traditional Chinese medicine records have documented use roots Panax ginseng (ginseng roots) its prescriptions treat dementia. Ginsenoside Rg1, main ginsenoside component roots, exhibits certain therapeutic effect abovementioned diseases, suggesting potential management AD. Therefore, we combed currently used drugs, reviewed availability, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutic studies Rg1. This review summarizes effects mechanisms Rg1 deglycosylated derivatives vivo vitro. include improvement Aβ Tau pathologies, regulation synaptic function intestinal microflora, reduction inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis. underlying mainly involve PKC, MAPK, PI3K/Akt, CDK5, GSK-3β, BDNF/TrkB, PKA/CREB, FGF2/Akt, p21WAF1/CIP1, NF-κB, NLRP1, TLR3, TLR4 signaling pathways. As on not been systematically reviewed, provided comprehensive shed light future directions utilization as well development drugs.

Ginseng is one of the main representatives traditional Chinese medicine and presents a wide range pharmacological actions. Ginsenosides are class active compounds found in ginseng. They demonstrate unique biological activity medicinal value, namely anti-tumour, anti‑inflammatory antioxidant properties, as well anti-apoptotic properties. Increasing levels stress life responsible for increased incidence nervous system diseases. Neurological diseases create huge burden on lives health individuals. In recent years, studies have indicated that ginsenosides play pronounced positive role prevention treatment neurological Nevertheless, research still at an early stage development, complex mechanisms action involved remain largely unknown. This review aimed to shed light into what currently known about relation Alzheimer's disease. Scientific material theoretical bases with purified Panax ginseng extracts also discussed.
