Microplastics are emerging persistent pollutants which have attracted increasing attention worldwide. Although microplastics been widely detected in aquatic environments, their presence soil ecosystems remains largely unexplored. Plastic debris accumulates farmland, causing serious environmental problems, may directly affect food substances or indirectly the members each trophic level of chain. This review summarizes origins, migration, and fate agricultural soils discusses interaction between components farmland from perspectives toxicology accumulation deduces impacts on by linking organismal response to an ecological role. The effects ecosystem function also discussed, emphasizing supply products, chain pathways, carbon deposition, nitrogen cycling water conservation, as microplastic pollution will for a long period, posing risk. Finally, several directions future research proposed, is important reducing effect systems.

In recent years, the presence of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) has been assessed in several environmental matrices, including marine environment agricultural soil, suggesting those pollutants are likely to enter food web.
