Lake sediments connection to the biogeochemical cycling of phosphorus (P) and carbon (C) influences streamwater quality. However, it is unclear whether how type sediment controls P C in water. Abstract Dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition in lakes is controlled by multiple environmental drivers, but the relative importance of various drivers remains poorly understood at continental scale. Here, we established a model resolving possible influencing pathways climate, land cover, societal development, and water retention time on quantity quality chromophoric DOM (CDOM) from 182 spanning across strong climatic economic gradients China.
