Microplastic (MP) pollution is becoming a global problem due to the resilience, long-term persistence, and robustness of MPs in different ecosystems. In terrestrial ecosystems, plants are exposed MP stress, thereby affecting overall plant growth development. This review article has critically analyzed effects stress plants. As an exogenous carbon input, microplastics (MPs), especially biodegradable MPs, may significantly disrupt soil microbial communities and element cycling (CNPS cycling), but few studies have focused on this. Here, we assessing the effects of conventional low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), polylactic acid (PLA) MPs rhizosphere CNPS in a soil-soybean system. Plastic mulch films support global food security, however, their composition and the potential release rates of organic, metal metalloid co-contaminants remains relatively unknown. This study evaluates low molecular weight organic additives, content leaching from density polyethylene (LDPE) biodegradable plastic films.
