Microplastic
(MP)
pollution
has
emerged
as
a
major
environmental
issue
with
significant
health
implications.
Synthetic
face
masks
(FMs)
have
been
identified
substantial
source
of
MPs
and
chemical
additives,
posing
risks
to
ecosystems
human
health.
This
systematic
literature
review
examines
the
associated
additives
released
from
synthetic
FMs
explores
behavioural
factors
influencing
these
risks.
interdisciplinary
perspective
is
not
well-explored
in
existing
offers
new
insights
into
field.
Key
findings
indicate
that
are
present
newly
manufactured
FMs,
likely
generated
during
non-woven
FM
production
process,
various
accelerating
release
additives.
While
studies
highlight
MP
toxicity
aquatic
terrestrial
organisms,
there
lack
research
addressing
direct
impact
on
Workplaces
where
used
personal
protective
equipment
may
create
conditions
promote
pollutant
release;
however,
but
predominantly
focused
secondary
exposure
via
food
chain,
rather
than
use.
Most
centres
COVID-19
pandemic,
leaving
gap
understanding
for
individuals
relying
occupational
safety
or
living
areas

air
quality.
The
wide
range
concentration

regulation

High-performance
air
filtration
materials
are
important
for
addressing
the
airborne
pollutants.
Herein,
we
propose
an
unprecedented
access
to
biodegradable
poly(lactic
acid)
(PLA)-based
MOFilters
with
excellent
filtering
performance
and
antibacterial
activity.
The
fabrication
involved
a
stepwise
in
situ
growth
of
zeolitic
imidazolate
framework-8
(ZIF-8)
crystals
at
surface
microfibrous
PLA
membranes,
followed
by
mechanical
polarization
under
high
pressure
low
temperature
(5
MPa,
40
°C)
trigger
ordered
alignment
dipoles
chains
ZIF-8.
unique
structural
features
allowed
these
PLA-based
achieve
exceptional
combination
tensile
properties,
dielectric
constant
(up
2.4
F/m),
enhanced
potential
as
4
kV.
Arising
from
remarkable

Both
zinc
oxide
nanoparticles
(ZnO
NPs)
and
microplastics
(MPs)
were
extracted
from
one
commercial
sunscreen,
while
other
ingredients
removed
based
on
the
"like
dissolves
like"
principle.
MPs
further
by
acidic
digestion
of
ZnO
NPs
using
HCl
characterized
as
spherical
particles
approximately
5
μm
with
layered
sheets
in
an
irregular
shape
surface.
Although
stable

sunlight

exposure,

photooxidation

hydroxyl
radicals,

MPs,
providing
new
evidence

human
health.
