Microplastic (MP) pollution has emerged as a major environmental issue with significant health implications. Synthetic face masks (FMs) have been identified substantial source of MPs and chemical additives, posing risks to ecosystems human health. This systematic literature review examines the associated additives released from synthetic FMs explores behavioural factors influencing these risks. interdisciplinary perspective is not well-explored in existing offers new insights into field. Key findings indicate that are present newly manufactured FMs, likely generated during non-woven FM production process, various accelerating release additives. While studies highlight MP toxicity aquatic terrestrial organisms, there lack research addressing direct impact on Workplaces where used personal protective equipment may create conditions promote pollutant release; however, but predominantly focused secondary exposure via food chain, rather than use. Most centres COVID-19 pandemic, leaving gap understanding for individuals relying occupational safety or living areas poor air quality. The wide range concentration reported suggest inadequate regulation production. High-performance air filtration materials are important for addressing the airborne pollutants. Herein, we propose an unprecedented access to biodegradable poly(lactic acid) (PLA)-based MOFilters with excellent filtering performance and antibacterial activity. The fabrication involved a stepwise in situ growth of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) crystals at surface microfibrous PLA membranes, followed by mechanical polarization under high pressure low temperature (5 MPa, 40 °C) trigger ordered alignment dipoles chains ZIF-8. unique structural features allowed these PLA-based achieve exceptional combination tensile properties, dielectric constant (up 2.4 F/m), enhanced potential as 4 kV. Photodegradation of Microplastics by ZnO Nanoparticles with Resulting Cellular and Subcellular Responses DOI

Both zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and microplastics (MPs) were extracted from one commercial sunscreen, while other ingredients removed based on the "like dissolves like" principle. MPs further by acidic digestion of ZnO NPs using HCl characterized as spherical particles approximately 5 μm with layered sheets in an irregular shape surface. Although stable presence simulated sunlight water after 12 h exposure, promoted photooxidation producing hydroxyl radicals, a 2.5-fold increase carbonyl index degree surface oxidation. As result oxidation, more soluble fragmented to shapes sharp edges. We then compared cytotoxicity primary secondary (25–200 mg/L) HaCaT cell line viability loss subcellular damages. The cellular uptake transformed was enhanced over 20%, caused higher pristine ones, evidenced 46% lower viability, 220% lysosomal accumulation, 69% reactive oxygen species, 27% mitochondrial loss, 72% superoxide at 200 mg/L. Our study for first time explored activation derived products revealed high MPs, providing new evidence effects human health.
