Salt stress is one of the significant abiotic factors that exert harmful effects on plant growth and yield. The extensive use of plastic materials and their improper disposal results in high amounts waste the environment. The coexistence of microorganisms in complex soil environments greatly affects the environmental behavior and ecological effects microplastics (MPs). However, relevant studies are sparse, internal mechanisms remain unclear. Herein, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), a common symbiotic microorganism soil-plant system, was proved to significantly affect MPs absorption migration with "size effect". Specifically, existence AMF accelerated small-sized (0.5 μm) uptake but slowed large-sized (2 lettuce. content 0.5 μm absorbed by plants 1.26 times that non-AMF group, while 2 only 77.62 % group.
