Emerging contaminants (ECs) are a diverse group of unregulated pollutants increasingly present in the environment. These contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, personal care products, endocrine disruptors, and industrial chemicals, can enter environment through various pathways persist, accumulating food chain posing risks to ecosystems human health. This comprehensive review examines chemical characteristics, sources, varieties ECs. It critically evaluates current understanding their environmental health impacts, highlighting recent advancements challenges detection analysis. The also assesses existing regulations policies, identifying shortcomings proposing potential enhancements.
