ABSTRACT Microplastics (MPs) are a growing concern due to their impact on ecosystems and human health. To identify the layout of global research landscape, emerging topics, future directions MP research, particularly in agricultural context, this study analyzed 16,134 publications from period 2014 2023. The findings revealed significant increase publications, with China India as main contributors. Domestic citations, especially have increased, potentially indicating reducing international information exchange. Seventy‐six topics were identified, marine environments appearing 39.8% while terrestrial (12.5%) (3.1%) showed substantial growth. At same time, effects pollution is changing focus aquatic life, such fish (24.9%), soil microbes (3.5%) plants (6%). In six identified: plastics, biosolids, pollutant interactions, microbial environmental risks, risks. provide comprehensive overview current environment. Future should prioritize understanding critical questions about sources, climate change effects, contaminant impacts microorganisms While exploring long‐term MPs ecosystems, collaboration exchange be emphasized address regional gaps. these results reflect dominant trends field, further incorporating broader set countries language sources could more nuanced perspective.

As an exogenous pollutant, the microplastics accumulated in soil could alter microbial activity. The use of plastic mulch greenhouse vegetable planting not only enhances yield and quality, but also leads to formation accumulation over time. It is essential determine characteristics microorganisms soils with varying years crucial for ensuring quality quantity. Therefore, this study investigated abundance particle size microplastics, concentration phthalates (PAEs), dynamics activity different (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years). Results showed that increased abundance, size, PAEs as progressed. Specifically, rose from 70.0±8.7 224.0±10.4 items/kg, proportion sized 0-2 mm increasing 14.02 69.11%, total escalating 0.31 1.89 mg/kg. Additionally, Bacteroidetes Actinobacteria levels increased, correlating organic matter degradation. Metabolic pathway linked degradation were enriched according KEGG analysis. Correlation analysis revealed notably decreased pH, creating acidic environment boosted urease relative Nitrospirae. This sheds light on their impact following prolonged planting.

Numerous studies have been conducted to investigate the impact of microplastics on soil eco-system, yet little attention has given specific effects mulch and leaching plastic additives from films. This review inspects propensity commonly used in films, such as Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), bisphenol A (BPA), benzophenones (BPs), migrate into soils pose potential risks biota. Further, we highlight degradation non-biodegradable films over time, which leads an increase release agricultural soils. DEHP detected high concentrations for example 25.2 mg/kg soils, indicating a risk uptake, translocation accumulation plants, ultimately altering physicochemical properties affecting microflora invertebrates. The also explores how exposure ultraviolet (UV) radiation microbial activities accelerates weathering Moreover, resultant can lead genotoxicity growth inhibition earthworms (Eisenia fetida) negatively microbiome. Despite significant implications, there lack comprehensive reviews comparing film flora fauna. Therefore, this addresses knowledge gaps providing bibliometric analysis eco-toxicological evaluation, discussing challenges future perspectives regarding microplastics, thus offering understanding their impact.

Soil ecosystems are under serious threat from microplastics (MPs), and this is causing worldwide concern. The relationship between soil MPs has become a popular research topic, the vertical migration of increasing interest. This Review summarizes current status into factors affecting MPs. Published shows that characteristics physicochemical properties affect infiltration process. organisms play key role in by acting as vectors or result adsorption. Dissolved organic matter metal oxides transfer adsorption-desorption. In addition, rainfall dry-wet cycles alter mobility MPs, leading to changes processes. Agricultural activities such tillage irrigation may distribute throughout topsoil. Vertical process influenced combination factors, these MP deposition needs be explored further.

In this investigation, milk samples from both commercial processed sources and local raw cow underwent examination for microplastic presence. Results definitively affirmed the prevalence of microplastics in tested milk, totalling 66 particles among 9 samples, with an average concentration 11.11 ± 8.74 particles/L. Microplastic abundance ranged 3 to 30 particles/L, observed through microscopic analysis, showcasing varied characteristics such as colour (black, blue, red, green, transparent), shapes (fibres, fragments), sizes (100-1000 µm). Notably, black fibres predominated. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra played a pivotal role identification, specific peaks scrutinized matched references. The study revealed that pouches are primarily PE PP, discernible characteristic like CH2 asymmetric stretching at 2919 cm-1 symmetric 2851 cm-1. Thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis indicated varying thermal responses decomposition behaviour, polyethylene decomposing 335 450°C.

Accurately identifying the optimal spatial scales of effect analysis influencing factors on water quality is crucial for effective environment management. To address this, we propose a framework that consists mix scale division (watersheds, riparian buffers, and circular buffers), conduct case study in Yuanjiang River Basin (YJRB). Scale effects non-linear impacts various were identified. The results revealed variations these indicators predominated by different at sales, such as slope (SL) buffer (w) = 500 m (r) 15 km (with contribution percentage 16.6 %), mean annual temperature (TE) watershed (23.4 precipitation (PR) w r etc. cultivated land (CL) > 28 % (w m, 50 km) will lead to increase total phosphorus (TP) SL 26° pondus hydrogenii (pH). While, POP 30 person per unit area 100 1 km), 24° NDVI 0.48 5 PR 1300 mm watershed, decrease ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), (TN), electrical conductivity (EC) turbidity (NTU) respectively. Results indicated precision can be improved regulating within considering quality.
