Groundwater is an important part of maintaining the balance ecosystem and one main freshwater resources human society. It has therefore attracted much attention in field environment, order to gain in-depth understanding research hotspots, cooperation networks development processes groundwater heavy metal pollution remediation, objectively reflect scientific contributions influences relevant countries (regions), institutions individuals this field. To provide researchers with a comprehensive trends contamination groundwater, study analyzes 8147 publications from 1998 2024 using Web Science Core Collection database ISI Knowledge. Bibliometric analysis was conducted data visualization tools CiteSpace HistCite Pro. The examines key aspects such as major institutions, directions, offering insights into application remediation since 1998. bibliometric literature provides valuable trends, emerging guidance for future studies on contamination. indicates that China India have made significant research. Zinc, copper, lead, cadmium are primary water pollutants targets. However, many challenges remain detection, including migration transformation pathways metals bodies, interference different matrices, complex chemical forms which exist. Future will continue focus mechanisms, source identification, risk assessment management, bioremediation, treatment technologies. Efforts be develop technologies enable rapid, high-precision detection efficient recovery.
