Exposure to micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) has been implicated in potential cardiotoxicity. However, vitro models based on cardiomyocyte cell lines lack crucial cardiac characteristics, while interspecies differences animal compromise the reliability of conclusions. In addition, current research predominantly focused single-time point exposures MNPs, neglecting comparative analyses injury across early late stages. Insects, being among the most diverse and abundant organisms in terrestrial ecosystems, are inevitably exposed to ubiquitous micro- nanoplastic contaminants. Although studies on impact of these contaminants insects gradually emerging, they remain limited scope. In this study, we investigated biological traits (including foraging behavior, food assumption, digging ability, body weight survival) Japanese carpenter ant, Camponotus japonicus, response exposure polystyrene (PS-M/NP) solutions containing three particle sizes (0.05, 1 50 μm) four concentrations (0.1, 1, 10 mg/mL). The results showed that worker ants exhibited significant preference consumption for non-contaminated multiple-choice experiments, indicating C. japonicus can differentiate avoid feeding PS-M/NP-contaminated solutions. Because of their diversity, microplastics (MPs), which are synthetic particles smaller than 5 mm, highly bioavailable and widely distributed. The prevalence in aquatic habitats has been extensively studied but less is known about presence terrestrial environments biota. This study examined MP intake utilizing gastrointestinal tracts (GITs), with a particular focus on the Turkish worm lizard (Blanus strauchi). Suspected discovered GITs were removed, measured, characterized based size, shape, color, polymer type order to evaluate ingestion.
