Background Alcohol is linked to various cancers. While many studies have focused on developed countries, the burden of alcohol-related cancers in developing countries remains underexplored. Methods We analyzed data from Global Burden Disease Study (2000–2019) assess mortality and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) low low-to-middle sociodemographic index (SDI) countries. Results In 2019, there were 494 730 cancer. Low low-middle SDI contributed over 15% global Among multiple types cancer, other pharyngeal these accounted for 30% Primary liver cancer exhibited highest ( n = 16 090) deaths DALYs rates decreased globally between 2000 related increased with a rise all cancers, except primary The most rapidly growing (+2.25%), whereas colorectal evidenced increase (+2.76%). Conclusion has risen SDI, especially Policymakers should focus improving policies as well screening availability tackle associated resource-constrained However, difficulty isolating impact alcohol due limited confounders necessitates caution interpreting findings.

Patients with liver cancer may face stigmatization due to cancer, alcohol consumption, or both. This study addresses gaps in the existing literature regarding of alcohol-related patients, particularly its connection socioeconomic status (SES). The explores whether SES a fictional character addiction and influences stigma levels reported by participants. Additionally, it investigates how participants' personal characteristics, such as consumption healthcare professional status, impact stigmatization. aims provide new insights role treatment management, emphasizing determinants. method is based on three scenarios describing woman abuse cancer. depicted either low, medium high SES. Each participant (N = 991) was randomly assigned one scenarios. After reading it, each answered questionnaires assessing negative attitudes towards character. Four scales were used: "Negative attributions about people health problems", "Causality cancer", "Controllability drinking" "Reluctance helping behavior". Data analyzed using ANOVA t-tests. scenario low significantly received more problems" than Participants having higher themselves showed lower scores for out four participants consumption. In addition, identified professionals had drinking", subscale behavior", compared non-professionals. A Participants' own (being not), influenced their stigmatizing attitudes.

Background/Objectives: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represent major primary liver cancers, affecting one of the most vital organs in human body. T regulatory (Treg) cells play an important role cancers through immunosuppression antitumor immune responses. The current study focuses on characterization circulating natural killer (NK) cell subsets, including Treg cells, CCA HCC patients, before after surgical tumor resection, order to understand effect resection homeostasis peripheral blood NK cells. Methods: Whole assays were performed monitor alterations functional competence lymphocytes a group ten healthy individuals, eight twenty month procedure, using flow cytometry, sorting, qRT-PCR. Results: Before both patients display increased percentages CD8+ decreased frequencies CD4+ Notwithstanding, no impairment was detected neither nor patients. Abstract Background and aims Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly fatal tumor, for which early detection risk stratification crucial, yet remains challenging. We aimed to develop an interpretable machine-learning framework HCC based on routinely collected clinical data. Methods leverage data obtained from over 900,000 individuals 983 cases of across two large-scale population-based cohorts: the UK Biobank study “All Of Us Research Program”. For all these patients, timepoints years before diagnosis was available. integrate modalities including demographics, electronic health records, lifestyle, routine blood tests, genomics metabolomics offer unique, multi-modal perspective risk. Results Our random-forest-based model significantly outperforms publicly available state-of-the-art risk-scores, with AUROC 0.88 both internal external test sets. demonstrate robustness our ethnic subgroups, major advance previous models variable performance by ethnicity. Further, we perform extensive feature-importance analysis, showcasing approach as framework. provide weights open-source web calculator facili-tate further validation model. Conclusion presents robust stratification, offers potential improve could ultimately reduce disease burden through targeted interventions. Lay summary Finding liver cancer crucial successful treatment. Therefore, screening abdominal ultra-sound can be performed. However, it not clear who should receive ultrasound screening, current standard only patients cirrhosis, severe disease, many are diagnosed in late stages. trained machine learning model, acting like decision trees at same time, detect high looking patterns almost 1000 population 900.000 individuals. In separate set has seen during training, worked better than models. Additionally, investigated 1. how comes its prediction, 2. whether works males females alike 3. most relevant Like this, help sort into categories “high-risk”, “medium-risk” “low-risk”, via strategies then decided, cancer.
