Coastal lagoons are ecosystems of high environmental importance but quite vulnerable to human activities. The continuous inflow pollutant loads can trigger negative impacts on the ecological status these water bodies, which is contrary European Green Deal. One example Mar Menor coastal lagoon in Spain, has experienced significant degradation recent years due excessive external nutrient input, especially from non-point source (NPS) pollution. one largest Mediterranean region and a site great socio-economic value. In this study, highly anthropogenic complex watershed Menor, known as Campo de Cartagena (1244 km2), was modelled with Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) analyse potential options for recovery unique system. model used simulate several best management practices (BMP) proposed by regulations, such vegetative filter strips, shoreline buffers, contour farming, removal illegal agriculture, crop rotation management, waterway vegetation restoration, fertiliser greenhouse rainwater harvesting. Sixteen scenarios individual combined BMPs were analysed study. We found that, measures, strips farming most effective reduction: approximately 30 % total nitrogen (TN) 40 phosphorus (TP). Moreover, restoration showed highest sediment (S) reduction at 20 %. We analysed the effectiveness of agricultural best management practices (BMPs) for mitigating harmful algal blooms (HABs) in Mar Menor lagoon, Spain, by coupling SWAT + catchment and GOTM-WET lake models. compared different BMP scenarios, including "vegetative filter strips", "contour farming", "fertilizer reduction", "crop rotation", their combination reducing high chlorophyll a (Chl-a) events over period 2003-2022. All BMPs significantly reduced nutrient inputs entering which limited formation HABs. The scenario that combined all was most effective controlling HABs, decreasing numbers days with HABs 81 %, Chl-a 50 % during periods This mainly explained crop rotation, fertilizer reduction vegetative strips differentially (e.g. rotation nitrogen 47.4 phosphorus 31.8 %). Ocean monitoring systems are designed for continuous of the seas and oceans to track their evolution thus anticipate environmental issues. However, they often based on Internet Things (IoT) that expensive, hard maintain, offer little spatial coverage. An emerging alternative is Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS) good geographical coverage but, as a reliable real-time system, also face several challenges such conditions, spatio-temporal granularity, terrain oleography, etc. This paper introduces an easy-to-use software tool crawl water-quality data from up 6 satellite instruments (i.e. Sentinel 3 A, 3B, NOAA VIIRS, SNPP Aqua MODIS, Terra MODIS) European Space Agency's (ESA) Coopernicus system NASA's Marine Environmental Monitoring Service. We provide in-depth analysis in terms reliability chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) highly anthropised local/regional context like Mar Menor lagoon (Murcia, Spain), where serious socio-environmental issues arising due eutrophication process.
