Abstract The integration of green‐gray infrastructures with advanced control approaches is revolutionizing the stormwater system retrofitting, emerging as an innovative strategy to mitigate urban flood risks. However, a major challenge lies in balancing substantial investments these infrastructure projects their environmental benefits, such reduced flooding volume and lower peak flow. Model predictive (MPC), dynamic intelligent approach, optimizes benefits but underutilized design phase for cost‐effectiveness analysis. This study introduces multi‐scenario model framework that incorporates MPC other into designs, including implementation controlled storage tanks green infrastructures. provides comprehensive modeling tools practitioners evaluate costs across various designs scenarios, ultimately identifying solutions are both environmentally economically viable. A case conducted small catchment area Shenzhen City, China, demonstrates effectiveness this framework. results indicate outperforms particularly under heavy or extreme rainfall conditions. Notably, not only superior also yields considerable cost savings, ranging from 1,787 9,371 USD per hectare compared static control, equating 5% reduction relative rule‐based control. Such findings suggest integrating cost‐effective alternative extensive expansion management, which significantly enhances benefit contribution without additional expenses.

Abstract In recent decades, coastal communities globally have experienced increased frequency and intensity of flood hazards, especially in developing nations. An increase flooding has often been attributed to population growth, rising sea levels, extreme weather events, rapid urbanization, poor land use, exacerbated by insufficient urban risk management policies. However, is complex necessitates an in-depth look at factors that drive changing dynamics cities. This study used a participatory approach identify, categorize, analyze drivers change the flood-prone city Limbe, Cameroon, major tourism hub contributor Cameroon’s GDP. The engaged key stakeholders, including community members, government authorities, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations. led identification 46 classified into six clusters. findings emphasized four priority areas enhance policy resilience: restoring natural buffer zones like wetlands, increasing local involvement planning, implementing risk-informed use regulations, investing infrastructures. To ensure effective collaborative bottom-up involving all marginalized necessary tailor solutions meet their needs.

Growing urbanization has increased impermeable surfaces, raising and polluting stormwater runoff, exacerbating the risk of urban flooding. Effective management is essential to curb sedimentation, minimize pollution, mitigate This systematic literature review from Web Science Scopus between January 2000 June 2024 presents hydrodynamic separation (HDS) technologies. It sheds light on significant issues that water faces. HDS classified into four categories: screening, filtration, settling, flotation, based treatment mechanisms. The results show a shift traditional standalone physical separations multi-stage hybrid processes with nature-based solutions. great advantage these approaches they combine different mechanisms integrate ecological sustainability manage better. findings showed future research will examine AI-assisted technologies, biochar-enhanced green infrastructure systems. When adopting an integrated approach, system perform like natural remove pollutants effectively better monitoring controls. These technologies are intended fill existing voids, especially in removing biological contaminants new (e.g., microplastics pharmaceutical substances). In long term, help enforce Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) orient areas developing countries towards meeting circular economy objective.
