Surface roughness and low surface energy are key elements for the artificial preparation of biomimetic superhydrophobic materials. However, presence micro-/nanostructures corresponding increase in can light scattering, thereby reducing transparency. Therefore, designing constructing surfaces that combine superhydrophobicity with high transparency has been a continuous research focus researchers engineers. In this study, transparent coating was constructed on glass substrates using hydrophobic fumed silica (HF-SiO2) waterborne polyurethane (WPU) as raw materials, combined simple spray-coating technique, resulting water contact angle (WCA) 158.7 ± 1.5° sliding (SA) 6.2 1.8°. Characterization tests including SEM, EDS, LSCM, FTIR, XPS revealed micron-scale protrusions nano-scale porous network composite structure surface. The HF-SiO2 not only provided certain but also effectively reduced energy. More importantly, exhibited excellent water-repellent properties, extremely interfacial adhesion, self-cleaning ability, transparency, transmittance coated substrate reaching 96.1% bare substrate. series functional characteristics demonstrated by HF-SiO2@WPU designed study will play an important role various applications such underwater observation windows, building facades, automotive glass, goggles.
