Enhancing urban innovation resilience is crucial for adapting to change and pursuing innovation-driven, high-quality development. The global trend of digital transformation has profound implications innovation; however, the specific effects on remain insufficiently explored. This study utilizes panel data from 285 prefecture-level above cities in China, spanning 2007 2022. It treats Broadband China Pilot (BCP) policy as a quasi-natural experiment employs time-varying Difference-in-Differences (DID) method investigate impact resilience. results yield several important insights: (i) enhances resilience; (ii) effect heterogeneous across regions city sizes; (iii) improves through mediation green total factor productivity (GTFP); (iv) industrial upgrading vitality play significant moderating roles relationship between These findings contribute deeper theoretical understanding

Purpose Digital transformation is the key for family firms to gain a competitive advantage in digital economy. This paper empirically examines effect of founder control on firms’ from perspectives risk-taking and founders’ power. Design/methodology/approach uses an unbalanced panel dataset test hypotheses using sample Chinese A-share listed 2010 2022. Findings Compared non-founder-controlled firms, founder-controlled are more capable driving only facilitate substantive rather than symbolic transformation. Mechanism analysis reveals that associated with higher inclination power, which leads greater willingness ability Heterogeneity indicates particularly advantageous promoting without state capital participation, second-generation involvement weak Confucian cultural embeddedness. Originality/value To study how affects transformation, this article splits enterprises into non-founder control. divides paths, each distinctive objectives. improves understanding enterprise processes provides policy insights their evolution.

The aim of this paper is to explore the technological innovation mechanism by which digital transformation (DT) influences total factor productivity (TFP). We take Chinese listed firms from 2007 2020 as research samples, and con- tribute above goals based on fixed-effect models, instrumental variables, mediation effect, moderating effect models. It has been found that (1) while DT contributes positively productivity, enhancement TFP in current primarily attributed artificial intelligence (AI) technology rather than other techno- logical innovation. (2) From an innovation-directed perspective, impact may be offset forms innovation, such green energy technology. Specifically, non-AI direction not align with implications DT. (3) Intellectual property protection impedes constrains deployment AI Conversely, business strategic radicalism corporate intangible asset have yielded favorable outcomes. Purpose This study aimed to analyze the impact of enterprise digital transformation on bank loan contracting from 2007 2021. Design/methodology/approach used an empirical approach examine interest rates and possible mechanisms. The data firms were obtained by Python, information Chinese listed was hand-collected notes annual report. Findings results show that can significantly reduce rate heterogeneity in nature property rights, industry type firm size. above remain significant after conducting a series robustness tests. Channel tests suggest promote total factor productivity, improve firms’ environment risk financial distress, thus helping them their rate. In addition, banks’ also affect link between rates. Originality/value First, this paper deeply investigates relationship contracting, mechanisms behind it which expands research economic consequences digitalization. Developing digitalization society has been top priority China as is urgent task survive competitive global developing country. Second, developed countries, evidence relating plentiful. Abstract Firms are increasingly shifting towards digital channels, yet the implications of this shift remain underexplored. Using a unique database customer behaviors extracted from top 2000 mobile apps developed by companies in China, study investigates impact on inefficient corporate investments. The results indicate that metrics such as active user count, usage duration, and app launch frequency can mitigate investments, notably curtailing overinvestment. These findings survive series robustness checks altering measures investment, extending analysis to include five apps, incorporating H-share listed firms, employing instrumental variables regression. Moreover, mechanism indicates help reduce investments lowering agency costs relaxing financial constraints. Further examines business models these (paid vs. free) well their reputation mechanisms, revealing pricing strategies brands also play role how adoption affects investment.

The digitization of economies underscores the crucial role digital transformation in advancing export technological sophistication. With advancement digitalization, future growth depends on strengthening competitiveness high-tech exports rather than simply increasing volume, making adoption technologies for driving high-quality trade development. This paper explores relationship between and sophistication among Chinese listed firms, with a focus mediating roles innovation activity. study provides empirical evidence that enhances firms' by fostering exports. In terms heterogeneity, positive impact is particularly significant firms located eastern region, operating non-high-tech capital-intensive industries, privately-owned firms. offers practical insights public policies support their transformation, helping them align economy, improve product quality, foster sustainable, high-quality, healthy economic growth.

Digitization plays a vital role in fostering economic and social development. This study empirically investigates the impact of digitization on urban industrial structures, technological innovation, public service levels, social–ecological resilience. Various approaches, including two-tier stochastic, spatial econometric, panel threshold models, have been employed to analyze data from 287 cities 2008 2023. These are examined through quasi-natural experiment analyzing evolution resilience following China’s promotion national comprehensive pilot zone for big data. The findings as follows. (1) positive effects ecological substantially outweigh negative effects, with an overall increasing trend net effect, albeit significant regional differences. (2) Digitalization exhibits spillover enhancing local while inhibiting improvements neighboring cities. (3) Technological innovation levels positively affect resilience, whereas structure upgrading has indirect effect. Both demonstrate nonlinear under constraints intermediary mechanism. (4) In terms policy mechanisms, differences structure, capacity, must be considered. approach is essential promoting organic integration across regions, mitigating polarization diffusion

Against the backdrop of frequent global trade conflicts and accelerated competition in digital economy, we investigated how friction shocks affect firms’ total factor productivity (TFP), with a focus on role transformation. We employed statistical analysis method based multi-period difference-in-differences model anti-dumping countervailing measures as quasi-natural experiments to analyze firm-level panel data for Chinese exporters from 2003 2016. The results indicate that frictions compel export firms enhance their TFP, while transformation further promotes this growth. This main conclusion still holds after series tests such parallel trend checks, placebo tests, variations primary variables. mechanism shows that, response shocks, aiming boost have strategically reallocated internal resources by increasing exports alternative products expanding into overseas markets rather than solely relying innovation. Additionally, mitigates negative effects firm innovation facilitates faster resource reallocation during challenges. heterogeneity reveals proves more beneficial are multi-product, non-state-owned, engaged general trade, operating highly competitive industries. paper contributes understanding at micro level, offering valuable insights strategies navigating these
