Adapting to change: redefining employee utilization in construction projects through lessons learnt from COVID-19

Purpose
The
study
aims
to
understand
the
challenges
of
effective
employee
utilization
in
construction
projects
during
coronavirus
disease
2019
(COVID-19)
pandemic
a
developing
country
and
develop
mitigation
strategies
for
post-pandemic
workforce
management.
Design/methodology/approach
We
used
qualitative
research
design
conduct
semi-structured
interviews
with
elite
informants
various
firms
analyze
data
using
thematic
analysis.
Findings
results
showed
that
numerous
factors,
including
supply
chain
issues,
inadequate
worker
healthcare,
ineffective
knowledge
management
job
losses,
have
negatively
impacted
industry.
prominent
outcomes
are
conceptual
framework
beyond,
recommendations
managers
executives
future
research.
Originality/value
developed
this
provides
new
theoretical
view
through
lens
dynamics
capabilities
findings
cover
industrial
insights,
particularly
from
stakeholders’
perspective,
provide
solid
foundation
domain.

This
study
investigates
the
influence
of
Top
Management
Team
Competencies
(TMTCs)
and
Middle-Tier
Managers’
(MMCs)
on
intention
to
adopt
Industry
4.0
(I4.0)
technologies
in
Thailand
Vietnam.
Utilizing
a
quantitative
approach
with
Partial
Least
Squares
Structural
Equation
Modeling
(PLS-SEM),
data
from
100
manufacturing
firms
reveal
critical
roles
readiness
level
(RL)
perceived
usefulness
(PU)
as
mediators
these
relationships.
The
findings
highlight
that
while
TMTC
significantly
enhances
organizational
readiness,
its
direct
impact
adoption
is
non-significant.
Conversely,
MMC
directly
influences
both
PU
intention,
emphasizing
practical
role
middle
management
bridging
strategic
vision
operational
execution.
RL
mediates
effects
I4.0
whereas
does
not
mediate
relationship
between
intention.
These
insights
contribute
literature
digital
transformation,
particularly
emerging
economies,
by
identifying
distinct
managerial
